Let me start off with the positive things about this book. The writing was wonderful, really. Mel Bossa sure knows how to use beautiful words. The way this story was told, with parts of Derek’s old diary and the constant switching between the part and the present, really well done. Why only 2 stars t...

Simply one of the most beautifully written love stories I've ever read. The prose is lyrical and heartbreaking in its simplicity. There are no wasted words. I loved painfully shy Derek and wild, dangerous Nick, both as boys and men, and it will be a very long time before I forget this book...if ever...

4 refreshing stars.****Review completed November 3, 2013 Nick's eyes are stunning. Icy blue like the Northern sky. The color purple is meaningful. The main protagonists Derek and Nick differ greatly in their characterizations and that's exactly what I found so interesting about them. Derek is ...

A wonderfully written, but quite melancholy romance.Derek has not exactly an ideal childhood : his mother has a miscarriage and a nervous breakdown, from which she doesn't recover for a long tim; his father is distant and not much interested in him; he stutters and his painful shyness add to his rea...

First off: I'm sorry to say that I'm not a huge fan of that cover. It doesn't look much like the MC, who is Irish, extremely pale, and red-haired. Just looks like some tanned, muscular guy, with spray-painted/photo-brushed tinted red hair. >.< The story alternates between Derek's childhood past and ...

Absolutely Stunning!Warning: When you start reading this book, make sure you give yourself plenty of time, because you will not want to put it down. This is a very touching story that captured me from the beginning. Little Derek broke my heart! He's such a beautiful character, so shy, kind, funny ...

Quite enjoyable story but I'm taking one star off. Derek's mother was vile, showed as the worst mother ever but she wasn't... let's be very specific here, she could be a homophobic person in Derek's present time, that I can't accept and hate her, but while he was a kid? NO!!!!! She was mental instab...
