some of the aristocratic styles started to blend together but I really appreciated seeing the small homes under "folk styles", the mountain homes, and the jugendstil/arts and crafts homes.
one of my top 5 reasons for watching a ton of movies set in the 70s 80s and 90s is seeing the set design, so this book is candy to me. it's a fun guide to where a lot of home design tropes started as well. some of the homes are stunning, some of them are stunningly ugly, many of them made me wonder ...
Visually lovely but devoid of useful information. For instance, if one sees a statue on page 198, one might expect sourcing information in an index. No love here, just a rudimentary photo credit and then a jumble of sources with no links to individual pictures. Frustrating!
