Stanley Dempsey is a lawyer and mining executive. He has written about mining history, mining law, and the management of environmental and land use controversy related to mines.His interests outside of his professional life include mountaineering, trout fishing, trains and libraries. He is a member of the Collections Committee of History Colorado, the Library Committee of the American Alpine Club, and the Visiting Committee of the Arthur Lakes Library at the Colorado School of Mines.Stan and his wife Judy live in Golden, Colorado.
