This is a hard one to review, I'm going to spew a lot of words. I'm going to hide them behind spoiler tags so that my review will read better. This is a fictional book about climate change. Specifically, it's a fictional book that purports climate change to be fictional as well. DISCLAIMER: [s...
This one I'm not too sure about. Coming off of the high I got from Timeline I was expecting much more. There was still the element of "fact" and action, with a little romance thrown in. This one is all about global warming and whether it's a "thing" or not. A whole bunch of science jargon and argume...
State of Fear is part sci-fi, part thriller, part essay on environmentalism. There was some good and some bad in this novel. Philanthropist George Morton is planning on donating a large sum of money to an extreme environmentalist group until he learns about their methods, and gets more information a...
3.5 starsI can’t believe that I am sitting here thinking about this review while Hurricane Sandy’s imminence is being trumpeted just outside my door.Makes you think…..The story itself is about global warming. It’s a cautionary tale really. On the one hand you have some radical environmentalists/ s...
I think there are only four reactions that one can have to this book. The first is indifference, because that blank response is always a possibility. The second is that if you do not believe in global warming, you will love this book and not really understand Crichton's real message. The third an...

The whole point of the novel is to reveal the conviction that global warming is not happening - not worth reading 500 pages. It reflects the authors prejudices - he portrays environmentalists as uneducated fanatics. For everyone else who shares his opinions: ecologists' and environmentalists' sole o...
This book is terrible. It's righty anti-environment propaganda, for one thing, and Crichton should have known better; but for another thing, it's really badly written.I like Crichton usually, but this is a very bad book.
