Maybe 'State of Wonder' is the fact that she kept me predicting the ending that was about to happen and then upset my expectations so I'd think "Wow, how is she gonna pull that off?" all the way through the book, but then every time she pulled it off and I'd just be in a state of wonder.
I've read this twice and it simply gets better with every read.
What a journey this book takes you on. Deeper and deeper, coiling the tension, or, more often, taking a turn you'd barely had the wherewithal to anticipate.
