Jill was not a very interesting protagonist. The premise for the book, and the plot was interesting, but when it's being led by a whiney, self-centered brat like Jill it gets harder to enjoy. I thought it was a little weird that there is like, voodoo magic with Blain and the sword, but it wasn't voo...

I picked this book up on bookoutlet for less than a dollar. I didn't expect it to be such a cute, yet captivating story. I had never read a book about a girl who could fence before and I found it really interesting. I loved how her fencing tied in with her fighting as a pirate. This book has mad...

I finally managed to read books from my own pile! And this read was quick yet very exciting.1. Pirates. Yup, you heard right. Imagine Pirates of the Caribbean but with teens. Freaking awesome!2. Fighting. Lots of good fighting scenes that make your heart race. I simply adored every moment of the swo...

But instead of having a nice, relaxing time, Jill finds the tip of a rusty rapier buried in the sand--and is abruptly transported back to the early eighteenth century. Now her bigges...

2 12 stars. I honestly didn't care one way or the other. Jill was bland. She had nothing going for her to make you like her as a character. The premise in in self was pretty good but was not executed in a way that made it interesting or fun to read.

Also appears on the Screaming Nitpicker. After a loss at a tournament by just half a second, Jill feels blue and unsure of where she is going to go from there. Will she go back to fencing? Will she find something else to do? Her family goes on a vacation in the Bahamas, but Jill is unable to stop thi...

This book is really good. The title, the summary, the cover. All fab. Especially the guy name: Harry! That just adds more of my like to the name.

When I first picked up this book, I thought "Oooh! Pirates!" It definitely sounded promising. I even read this book this year, probably in the beginnings of January. It didn't interest me, as of the first hundred or so pages. And since I had a lot of books to read, I had to abandon this one!

I’m a bit sorry to say that I’ve become quite the bit of the pirate book snob. The amusing thing about that statement is that I can’t say I’ve read a huge quantity of pirate books. What I have read, though, are all of the Jackey Faber books which are pretty much supreme in their historic accuracy as...
