Stepfanie Romine is a freelance writer and editor, yoga teacher and health coach. After six years of helping others get healthy and happy online, she branched out and started her own "health concierge" business to help people remove the obstacles that stand between them and the life they want. Until recently, she was editorial director at SparkPeople.com, where she managed DailySpark, the healthy living blog written by the site's experts, and SparkRecipes, where she developed and curated healthy recipes. A certified Ashtanga vinyasa yoga teacher since 2009, she earned degrees in French and journalism from Ohio University. Romine began her career in newspapers, as a copy editor, business reporter and columnist. Her second book, "The Spark Solution: A Complete Two-Week Diet Program to Fast-Track Weight Loss and Total Body Health," was named to the prestigious U.S. News & World Report "Best Diets" list in 2014. After more than a decade of disordered eating habits and an unhealthy obsession with dieting, Romine steadily gained weight in her early 20s. In 2005, while teaching essay writing in Seoul, South Korea, she joined a gym and committed to lose the excess weight. She shed almost 50 pounds and learned to love healthy living, then began helping others do the same. Until joining the SparkPeople team in 2008, Romine still saw exercise as an obligation. Since then, she has found her passion for fitness: She learned to ride a bike, started running, and took up hiking. She has a daily Ashtanga yoga practice and is training for her fourth half marathon. Exercise changed her life, freeing her from anxiety and providing stress relief. Romine and her husband, Sam, live with their three rescued cats in a treehouse in the North Carolina mountains, in search of a simpler life with healthy living at the forefront.
