Stephen B. Levine, born in 1942, is a practicing psychiatrist who specializes in problems relating to sexual and love relationships. He has written for both professional and lay readers. He was the recipient of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research's Masters and Johnson LIfetime Achievement Award in 2005. Long interested in the nature of sexual phenomena such as, sexual desire,paraphilia, love, and psychotherapy, he often lectures and writes about the apparent deficiencies and excesses of desire, psychological intimacy, infidelity, essence of psychotherapy, and educating mental health professionals. Many have praised his illumination of the meanings and processes of love over the life cycle. His has twice been singled out as teacher of the year in his Department of Psychiatry.

I usually like Levine's work so I was disappointed with this rather weak offering. Composed more of exhortations and pronouncements about the qualities and meaning he ascribes to dying (but states as reality) than of activities and practices for a "one year to live" exploration, it lacked the intell...
