The first book in this series The White Magic Five and Dime took me by surprise: it was billed as a cozy - and it was - but had a very edgy (for cozies) premise and backstory. The MC has a shady past, being raised by a thoroughly corrupted mother and mom's boyfriend, growing up while being dragged ...

Anthology The average star rating is 3.42 stars out of 5. So a little better than average. Some good short stories and some stinkers. So about usual for an anthology.1. I'd been looking for this one for several months for the Illona Andrews contribution. Fortunately I guess, I didn't find it in my usual haunts - book stores, new and used. I did find it at the library. Fortunately. Because books like this are what give anthologies a bad name. None of the tales are...

I found this to be a really neat book. I really like the way they incorporated the projects into the story line. I will have to give this to my granddaughter to read and then try to make some of the projects.

*I won this book from a Booklikes giveaway. While I wasn't required to write a review - much less a positive review - I am writing one because I read and enjoyed the book. I got no payment, nor any other reimbursement for accepting and reviewing this book - other than, obviously, the actual book*...

Well. That wasn't at all what I was expecting. I bought The White Magic Five & Dime while I was home in the States visiting my personal mecca, the local Barnes & Noble. The title was on my radar but I knew little about it, so I read the first few pages (something I used to always do when I had t...
