Steve Liskow is a free-lance editor who conducts fiction workshops in central New England. A former English teacher, he has also acted, directed, produced, or designed for nearly 100 theatrical productions. His short stories have won an Edgar nomination ("Hot Sugar Blues" in Vengeance, edited by Lee Child), the Black Orchid Novella Award ("Stranglehold," in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine), and three Honorable Mentions for the Al Blanchard Story Award. Many of his stories highlight his love of blues and rock and roll, and he also plays guitar.He has published eleven novels, five set in central Connecticut and featuring PI Zach Barnes, a former Hartford police officer. He often features contemporary issues such as shootings in a public school, teen trafficking, and substance abuse. The Kids Are All Right, the fourth Barnes novel, was a finalist for the Shamus Award for Best Indie Novel in 2015. The Whammer Jammers, a spin-off novel featuring two Hartford police officers who often work with Barnes, is set in the world of Roller Derby and was a quarter-finalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. Blood On The Tracks introduces Chris "Woody" Guthrie, a guitar-playing PI in Detroit. The book won Honorable Mention in the Writer's Digest Self-Published Novel Awards.
