I love anthologies like this. When your schedule is crazy & you find it difficult to make any progress on a full-meal book, these provide the perfect snack. Here we have 18 stories with an interesting theme. All are set around the Xmas season. But that’s about all they have in common as the authors ...
This is an average solid offering from Stuart Neville but not as good as the brilliant DCI Serena Flanagan...."Those we left behind" and "So say the fallen". DI Lennon is a typical over worked detective, the sole parent to his 6 year old daughter Ellen, mum having tragically passed away in a fire. H...
At the finish of this story there are some notes by the author in which he attempts to explain difficulties he experienced in the initial writing of "Those we left behind" In particular the story was originally intended for DI Jack Lennon but after some soul searching and some rewriting the reader w...
It's always a pleasure to write a review of a book so exciting and well written that it consumes you in its storyline and loses you in its content. "So say the Fallen" is also of special interest to me as I am a Northern Ireland ex pat living on mainland UK and it's great to enjoy a story not centre...

Several chapters will roll by in Stuart Neville’s chilling novel, Those We Left Behind, before you find out why everyone fears the Devine brothers. It also had one point that said Make everything the could go wrong go wrong. My immediate reaction after reading that was a burning desire to take out m...
We all have a list of authors whose books we wait for like the drunk outside a liquor store first thing in the morning. When they have the temerity to (gasp) leave beloved characters behind & start a new series, it can be tricky. It's like your brother showing up with a new girlfriend when you reall...
This had a bit of a slow start but soon gathered pace. I did enjoy the book, but felt DCI Flanagan was too much of a maverick, so much so that she became an irritant. Would read other books by this author.
