I didn’t know that this book was so controversial until I Googled it. People actually believe that this novel is proof that the author wants to murder his disabled son. This was an intense and compact book, perhaps made more intense by its brevity. I picked it up this afternoon and was drawn through it in an hour. Shawn's voice rings achingly true, as do the voices of his family. Parts of it are really, really tough to read but it's worth the pain.
Sort of disturbing book about life from the view of a "vegetable." The narrator is a 14 year-old kid with C.P. who cannot communicate or control his body at all.
