CAPTIVES' CHARADEPaperback: 338 pagesPublisher: Foliage Press, LLC (May 26, 2011)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 0615446574ISBN-13: 978-0615446578Product Dimensions: 8 x 5.2 x 0.8 inchesSusannah Merrill enjoyed a career as a successful writer in the corporate world and radio. But during a 2-year stint of unemployment, with a toddler and another baby on the way, she sought a creative outlet. Merrill decided to try her hand at writing an historical romance, in the style of her very favorite author, the late Kathleen Woodiwiss. Most of her writing was done at night, when the house was quiet. "I once read that the popular novelist Taylor Caldwell, who also wrote at night, revealed that when she read yesterday's pages, she was often surprised at what her characters did," said Merrill. "I found that phenomenon to be true as well. I think I managed to persevere in finishing the book because I couldn't wait to read what the characters would do next!"She finally put the finishing touches on Captives' Charade as she returned to full-time work. Discouraged by the submission process for unsolicited manuscripts, she put her "epic" in a box, where it languished among the dust bunnies. Many years later, while spring cleaning, she found the manuscript and decided to read it one more time. Finding the book "really good" and challenged by the opportunity to do much-needed editing, an idea was formed. With the arrival of self-publishing, she decided to pursue her dream of seeing Sarah and Stewart's odyssey in print.Readers will be delighted with her decision. The passionate love story of Lady Sarah and Stewart Chamberlain is an historical romance in the classical tradition. Merrill and her patient, supportive husband and two Papillons live in the Green Mountains of Vermont, while their two children enjoy fulfilling lives on the West Coast. You can write to Susannah Merrill at susmerrill@gmail.com or visit her Web site at https://sites.google.com/site/captivescharadehttp://www.amazon.com/s/ref=ntt_at_ep_srch?ie=UTF8&search-alias=books&field-author=Susannah+Merrill&sort=relevancerank/home.
