What I Liked: The book tried its best to stay true to the classic that it inspired it. There was a similar Gothic feeling to the story that I felt while reading Frankenstein. It was still there in the practicality with which one of the twins decides to hack a dead body and use the pieces from it. ...

2/5 starsGrowing up the fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin was one I didn’t know very well. But once I began watching Once Upon a Time, on ABC I fell in love with Robert Carlyle’s portrayal. No matter what “Mr. Gold/Rump” did I was bewitched by him and he remained my favorite. So when I came across this boo...

As much as I enjoyed reading this book, I still felt it was missing something. While it was very similar to the cartoon movie, I'm not to sure that was the problem. Most everyone knows the story of the Russian princess who might have escaped the murder of the Romanov family. Nadya, doesn't remember a...

I was given this book to read from a former teacher of mine along with twelve others, and I must admit, this book was rather pale in comparison to others that I have been reading. Don't get me wrong! This book has a wonderful idea, a spin on a classic tale? Sure! Why ever not? This book let me down ...

Yet another example of "promising premise, shoddy execution". Examples of the writing in this book: "he was a football player, not a thinker" "she felt a fireball of happiness" If that seems like good writing to you, by all means, go for it. Otherwise, move along.

Some people fear that people are being taken advantage of or spied on through the tattoos nanobots, but everyone is supposed...

The GoodThe "enemy" point of view. I love love loved the idea of telling the last installment in this trilogy from the point of view of a Global 1 (aka big brother) sympathizer. I hate it when books drum out the idea that everyone on the "other side" is evil, corrupt, and eats babies for lunch. Weyn...

The GoodThe writing, plot, and pace improvements. This book was such an improvement over the first book. The rebellion has finally ramped up and things are actually happening. The non-stop action and suspense really helped overcome pace issues the first book had.The genetics. I have only had one bio...
