Hi Readers! Suzanne White is an American author who lives in France. She winters in Buenos Aires. Let's listen to what Suzanne has to say for herself: I write books as fast as my fingers can type. I intend to continue to do so, even if I must type with five toes when I have one foot in the grave. I came to Paris in 1961 and more or less never left. In my checkered French life, I have been a school teacher, a college professor, a fashion model, a journalist, an interpreter, a novelist, a fireworks salesperson, director of a Parisian Couture boutique, an elevator operator, a shoe salesperson, a single mother and a simultaneous translator. Best thing I ever did was write books. I have mostly lived in Paris my whole adult life. I have two grown daughters who were born in Paris. One lives in Los Angeles. One lives in Paris. Now I live in Provence. It's warmer. By 1970, I had been there, done that with teaching English, fashion modeling and translating subtitles on French porn films to make money to feed us. I'd always dreamed of being a writer. So one day in 1971, I wrote an article for Cosmopolitan magazine in New York. To my delight and surprise, they actually bought and published it. Now I was officially a writer. I remember jumping around the house, hollering "I'm a writer! I'm a writer!" I still did translations to make money to feed the kids. Then, in 1973, I screwed up my courage and wrote a whole novel. It is about a young woman who could not find sexual satisfaction with her lovers. So she masturbated. I called that book Ladyfingers. A loving and rich boyfriend took me to New York to find an agent. The agent loved the book and sold it within a week. Thanks to her, Ladyfingers was published by a big New York publisher. Now I was proud to actually be able to earn a living being "a writer". I sincerely wanted to go on writing stories. But my sensible agent decided I should write non fiction. I balked at first. But when I did she said, "Novels are risky. They might sell. They might not. If you only write novels, your children will starve." She gave me a choice between Cooking and Astrology. I chose the latter, providing I could write about Chinese Astrology - the animal signs. By 1975 I had published my first book about Chinese Astrology. By now, I have written four best-selling books about Chinese and western Astrology. My readers have dubbed me "The High Priestess". That is flattering. I love e-mail and I adore being on Facebook and Twitter where I can actually talk to readers one on one.
