I like to think of myself as a "weird" writer. Most of my work falls under genre categories, but by the same token I strive to stretch what is genre into what is literary and vice-versa. My short fiction is generally horror or dark fantasy, occasionally drifting into science-fiction of the Philip K Dick or J.G. Ballard variety. My novel "Arcadian Gates" is in this style and is about a kind of dystopia which hasn't been explored much lately. Serial chapters are available now.I live in Minneapolis, MN and work as a video producer. I am also an independent filmmaker in my spare time, something which no doubt influences my work, though I would like to keep it distinct. Fundamentally, I write what I know I cannot film. I have had a screenplay as a grant finalist a few years ago.I enjoy writing film essays, as it is a good way to combine my love of film and my love of writing and to share that which I value in the cinema. I like to dig in and find meanings in the films outside of the usual academic critical style.
