Love Major!
MAJOR (MC Bear Mates Book 5) - Becca Fanning

This series just gets better and better! Major has been noticeably absent off and on throughout the series with those absences increasing in book four. Now, with this fifth installment, we know why and where he's been. The problem isn't what he's doing, but who it's with. Then he runs into Pip and as is the way with Fanning's bear mates, Major's world is rocked. Pip's gift is the best one yet and certainly comes in handy, but the fact that this pair has a past is the hardest for them to overcome, creating just the right amount of angst for the story.

The book is well-written and engaging enough that I read it in one sitting. Much like the rest of the series, it's full of romance, action, a bit of steamy fun, and some suspense as the Nomads take the war with the cartel to the next level. We also get to revisit past characters to see how they're doing and I have to add that the banter between Christie and Mundo was fantastic!

Eh...
Venomverse (2017) #3 (of 5) - Iban Coello,Nick Bradshaw,Cullen Bunn

I'm just not a huge fan of these events, mostly because they seem to be...shallow.   Like I don't see what larger purpose this will serve in the Marvel universe, nor what the ones before this served, and it makes me cynical.

It's fun seeing Rocket as a Venom, and Robbie Reyes as a Ghost Rider, and there's a twist I really enjoyed in the middle of this, thus the three-star rating.

It was fun and slick.

But it certainly wasn't great, something I know this author can do well.   It didn't make me feel for the characters, even at points where I normally would have.   Most of the emotional aspects felt like it was trying to manipulate me, or just fell flat, thus the lack of four or five stars.

Still, I probably inflated this rating.  It's the first time I've been able to read and review in a while - and man, I missed both of those things!

Aliens in Halloween bingo.

Summer Love Puppy (Have A Hart) by Rachelle Ayala
Summer Love Puppy (Have A Hart, #5) - Rachelle Ayala

There is no perfect story, only gifted writers.  Ms. Ayala is an expert at forging a connection between readers and her cast of eclectically irresistible characters.  Whether human or animal, they all bring something to the table.  Life lessons, emotional moments or just a figurative hug to brighten up someone's day, it's stories like Summer Love Puppy that have kept me in love with reading for years.  Linx and Grady have traveled a hard road in order to find a second chance.  Will there be forgiveness and understanding at the end of the trek?  The beginning of something special is just waiting to be explored.

Quick Paranormal Read
Bear to Have and Hold: Kodiak Den #5 (Al... Bear to Have and Hold: Kodiak Den #5 (Alaskan Den Men) - Amy Lamont

Bear To Have And Hold by Amy Lamont is fairly quick read, a perfect choice for paranormal fans with limited reading time.  Ms Lamont has delivered another fun read.  Kayla and Trent's story is full of drama, humor and sizzlin' sexy bits.  The characters in this story are just plain lovable.  I enjoyed reading Bear To Have And Hold and look forward to reading more from Amy Lamont soon.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Rain Dance (Tulsa Thunderbirds) Catherine Gayle
Rain Dance (Tulsa Thunderbirds Book 5) - Catherine Gayle

She pushes hot buttons, tortures your heart and inspires devotion, Catherine Gayle is good at getting noticed.  Just when it seems that your emotions cannot stand another blow, Rain Dance entrances your soul.  Ethan is no hero, but he is a good man and an ever evolving parent.  Natalie wants to be happy.  She longs to be loved, yet her choices keep holding her back.  Ethan and Natalie will leave you emotionally spent, but yearning for more.  The baggage is heavy but the reward is worth the load. (4.5 stars)
