A nicely written and action packed addition to the series. I love the search and rescue dogs!

This is a tightly plotted, wonderfully written novel.  I love the search and rescue/cadaver/sniffy dogs that show up in these books.  The main characters are also strongly written.  There isn't much more to write that isn't in the blurb and that won't be a spoiler.  There are no cliff-hangers at the end of these books but some characters reappear frequently and show growth/development so reading the previous 3 books is helpful, but not necessary.

I love this series. I love how Ryder Creed who is a dog trainer really loves and takes good care of his dogs. He trains them to smell and find all kinds of things, even diseases. I was so disappointed when I got the e-mail saying that I had not been approved for this book.. And then . . . yesterday, out of the blue, I was approved. I was so excited and even more excited that I had just finished a book and could start right in on this one. YAY!

This one was about the missing scientist Shaw and the fact that she was distributing her bird flu formula. So, the whole gang gets together to try and stop her. They haven't found her in months. There are humans be infected now. So the race is on either to find Shaw or an antidote. There are lots of twists and turns and a few surprises.

As usual, Alex Kava delivers and I got to read a great book that I just could not put down. And I think I am secretly enamored with Ryder Creed with how good he is with those dogs. If he can treat those dogs that way, how would he treat me? HA!

An entertaining read, but I wish there was more stuff with the dogs and more things going on the Maggi and Ryder.

Jak już kiedyś pisałam lubię zarzynać od środka (jeśli chodzi o tomy z danej serii). Mało kiedy sprawdzam, czy dana książka jest z danej serii i czy to tom pierwszy czy może trzeci. Tą książkę miałam w domu, kupiłam już dawno z Oliwią, więc uznałam, iż ją przeczytam. Ale tym razem sobie sprawdziłam wcześniej co to za książka. Lecz nie mając wcześniejszych tomów i tak uznałam, że ją przeczytam (bo zanim kupiłabym wcześniejsze, tą przeczytałabym już ze 5 razy ;)). Poza tym chyba lepiej się przekonać, czy autorka fajnie pisze po tym, co już się ma, zamiast kupować książki mając coś jeden tom w domu.

Zatem po swoim przemyśleniach zabrałam się do czytania. Pierwszy pozytyw: książka ma narratora, który wszystko opisuje. Tak, dla mnie to pozytyw, bo im więcej trafiałam na powieść pisaną w pierwszej osobie, tym bardziej chciałam narratora.

Maggie O'Dell jest agentką FBI, która specjalizuje się w robieniu po portretów psychologicznych. Tym razem musi współpracować z Julią Racine - osobą, którą nie lubi (łagodnie mówiąc.) Są morderstwa - pomysłowe, każde trochę inne, choć mają wspólny mianownik. Jest sekta, która spełnia wszystkie podpunkty, by być perfektywną sektą. Jest wielebny Joseph Evrett - człowiek bardzo charyzmatyczny, który potrafi wielu oczarować i są ludzie mniej lub bardziej ważni. Wszystkich ich coś łączy.

Jestem fanką thrillerów, kryminałów. Lubię morderstwa, lubię czytać o pracy policji, FBI czy innej organizacji. Lubię również zagadki. Ale w "Łowcy dusz" nie o zagadki chodzi. Bo jedynymi zagadkami są pytania: kto i dlaczego zabija? Co wspólnego ma z tym sekta?

To pierwsza książka, na którą trafiłam, w której jest sekta religijna. Nie było w niej może skomplikowanych opisów na ten temat. Ale to, co było, mi wystarczyło. Dlatego, bo mieliśmy opis człowieka, który tam wstąpił ze względu na brata, kobietę, której pastor pomógł i w taki sposób mu się odwdzięcza, człowieka zagubionego jak również zapatrzonego w postać pastora.
Choć sekta to jeden z wielu wątków z książki, to jednak zwraca uwagę na ten problem. Pomaga zauważyć jak łatwo można w niej się znaleźć, jak trudno jest z niej się wydostać.

Drugim wątkiem, ważnym wątkiem, są próby samobójcze matki Maggie. Dlaczego ona chciała się zabić? Co było powodem? Jakie to niesie skutki dla otoczenia? Dla  Maggie.

Partner Maggie, R.J. Tully ma problemy rodzicielskie. Maggie ma problemy osobiste: relacje z matką nie są udane, miała również nieudane małżeństwo, które kończy się rozwodem, Julia Racine z kolei ma nieudane relacje w pracy, a sam seryjny morderca nieudane dzieciństwo.

W "Łowcy dusz" nie brakuje osób bez przeszłości, o każdym coś wiemy, o każdym dowiadujemy się coraz ciekawszych rzeczy.

Książka jest wciągająca i raczej kobieca. Autorka skupia się na bohaterach, na ich zachowaniu, problemach. Morderstwa są tylko tłem, Z jednej strony przyjemni się czytało losy bohaterów, z drugiej jednak tłem powinny być te losy, a nie morderstwa. Jednak książka mi się podobała. Na popołudnie jest idealna. :)
