.Reading Habits Tag.
  1. Do you have a certain place in your home for reading?? Normally in my room on my bed, sometimes in the living room in the armchair.
  2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?? Bookmark always, although I tend to use train tickets for my magazine.
  3. Can you  just stop reading or do you have to stop reading after a chapter / certain number of pages?? I prefer stopping at the end of a chapter but at work that's not always an option, when times up, it's up.
  4. Do you eat or drink while read?? Oh yes, I do a lot of reading at work in my lunch. Surprisingly my books are quite clean.
  5. Multitasking: music or TV while reading?? Either or, if I'm at home I tend to have something on but if I'm on a train I'll have music playing as well.
  6. One book at a time or several at once?? Several, from about 11/12 I would read at least two maybe three books swapping every week. I now swap monthly.
  7. Reading at home or everywhere?? Anywhere really.
  8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?? In my head, but I have in the past read out loud when I've struggled to get to grips with a book.
  9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?? Nope, nope, nope.
  10. Barking the spine or keeping it like new?? Keeping it like new.
  11. Do you write in your books?? Heck no!! Are you insane?!

To A New Year!!

Hi all! I missed you guys! I know I've been scarce lately. I originally took a hiatus because I had the most awful writers block & coupled with the Booklikes issues, I was having a hard time getting anything done. Writing reviews started being more of a chore for me then it was fun so I felt a much needed break was in order.

Then as they say...when it rains it pours and I had a number of personal things pop-up, culminating with my father unexpectedly passing on the 10th of this month followed my grandmother passing, not unexpectedly, on the 26th.

So it's been a hell of a month and I normally don't share much personal stuff but when I lost my father, I lost a friend too and he deserves a mention. Whatever better place there is out there, I hope he and my grandmother are both in it and we'll all meet again one day.

Reading has always been soothing for me and has carried me through many nights in the past so as I ring in this New Year's, I'm going to turn to my loyal books, fellow bloggers and friends, catch up on some reviews and read the night away....

May this year be better then the last!

Happy New Year's!!

P.S. I'm glad to see BL is up and running again, or is it? I've been having problems all evening trying to connect and post this.  : (

Show and Share
Biscuit's Show and Share Day - Alyssa Satin Capucilli,Mary O'Keefe Young,Pat Schories

In my future classroom I would share this book with the class by introducing the "All about me" week. I would relate Biscuit's owner to my students and talk about how they will be bringing something special from home with them to present to the class. This will engage the students to really put thought behind what they would bring to share.

Intended Audience/Grade Level: Kindergarten

Leo the Late Bloomer
Leo the Late Bloomer - Robert Kraus,José Aruego

Leo is not like his friends.  And in a classroom, no two students will be alike.  We don't look like one another; we don't write like one another; we have different habits and quirky ways like no other.....  This is a brightly illustrated, simple story of Leo, who finally figures some things out that his friends have been doing for a while.  An excellent story to make students aware of the differences within the classroom, Leo the Late Bloomer is sure to be a hit at the beginning of the school year with any elementary grade.  It is always important to remind students that we are all unique in our abilities.

grade level equivalent: 1.7

All About Miserable Me
Grumpy Cat's All About Miserable Me: A Doodle Journal for Everything Awful - Jimi Bonogofsky-Gronseth

This is a weird little book following the apparent trend of books that want you to do things. This one asks a number of questions and suggestions for drawings and other little creative things to do.

Since it's grumpy cat, many of the questions are grumpy, about stuff that you don't like. This is interspersed with nicer questions, like what your favorite magic spell is and the like. I can imagine a child really liking this collection.

However, do not expects a lot of comics or text in this book, you'll not find it.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
