Look At This Beauty That I Won – Seeker by Veronica Rossi @rossibooks
Seeker - Veronica Rossi

Welcome to my One Sentence Review for Seeker, Book II of the Rider duology, by Veronica Rossi.

I would like to start off by thanking Book Nerd and Veronica Rossi for Seeker and the goodies I won.

After reading it, I would love to have read Riders first, but it’s not necessary.

I mean…check out this beauty.

Seeker (Riders #2)

MY ONE SENTENCE REVIEW

Horses rising from shadow, fire, ash and light, danger and suspense that had me shucking and jiving, flawed characters that had me eating out of their hands, and a storyline that had me twisting and turning to the end left me with a warm fuzzy feeling and a few chuckles in this paranormal/supernatural romantic fantasy that I highly recommend.

Vigilante Justice – Sinful Deeds by Kristine Mason @KristineMason7
Sinful Deeds: Book 1 Sinful C.O.R.E. - Kristine Mason

Kristine Mason has outdone herself in this thriller about four women who can’t get over their past and band together to create their own form of justice.

BUT…how far is too far?

MY REVIEW

WHOA! Right out of the gate the horror begins and I feel for Lena, the terror she must feel as she crouches, hidden in her parents closet, praying the police will arrive.

OH NO! Please tell me it isn’t so. Kristine, WTF are you doing to me?

Now….we are into present day…

Vigilante justice. I know we can’t have everyone running out killing willy nilly in the name of justice, but DAMMIT, sometimes scum needs to be cleaned off the face of the earth.

Four women whose lives had been forever changed by tragedy, haunted by their past, unable to move on…found their answer….Retribution. The characters could be you or I, pushed beyond our limits.

When Poppy was dealing with Melissa at the PTA meeting, I loved it. Melissa was totally oblivious to Poppy’s true thoughts. LOL

“A badass PTA mom with a vendetta.”

A farmer with a bone to pick. A waitress serving justice. The characters are flawed with issues and secrets. Makes for some fantastic reading and my emotions are all over the place as I worry about what will happen to them in the end.

I see some ‘rocky’ times ahead for Jagger and Kenna. Jagger is a cop, working the Homicide Unit and Kenna is called in from CORE to help.  Both have issues with intimacy and relationships, but Kenna’s secret may be a bit bigger.  I do have a problem with Jag and his choice of the Ohio Buckeyes. Wolverines don’t care for nuts. LOL

The sexual tension, and playful teasing has been clean and light…so far, but I think all bets are off on Date #3. I do believe it will turn into a smoldering, sizzling hot romance.

I know they all have to ‘come together’ and I wonder at the ending. I am super curious to see how Kristine will handle Jag and Kenna as the story takes a drastic turn. I am worried because I love happy ever after, but how can it be possible? With CORE involved, anything is possible, isn’t it? CORE is a living, growing organism, making room for new characters through each story.

Man oh man, Kristine how much longer you gonna drag me through the fire…I can’t believe where are you are taking this, but it sure tells me why vigilantism is a big NO!

Kristine definitely captured the meaning of romantic suspense. I love her ability to write humor and love into murder and monsters of the human kind. She can take something I know is coming, and twist and turn it to an even more grisly and jawdropping end, yet invoke a smile or two along the way. My expectations for her work is of the highest levels and she continually surpasses them.

I was right about my thoughts from the very beginning. I’m in your head Kristine. LOL

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Sinful Deeds by Kristine Mason.

Book review : queens of geek Jen Wilde
Queens of Geek - Jen Marie Wilde

July 26- 29

When BFFs Charlie, Taylor and Jamie go to SupaCon, they know it’s going to be a blast. What they don’t expect is for it to change their lives forever.

Charlie likes to stand out. SupaCon is her chance to show fans she’s over her public breakup with co-star, Reese Ryan. When Alyssa Huntington arrives as a surprise guest, it seems Charlie’s long-time crush on her isn’t as one-sided as she thought.

While Charlie dodges questions about her personal life, Taylor starts asking questions about her own.

Taylor likes to blend in. Her brain is wired differently, making her fear change. And there’s one thing in her life she knows will never change: her friendship with Jamie—no matter how much she may secretly want it to. But when she hears about the Queen Firestone SupaFan Contest, she starts to rethink her rules on playing it safe.

Review : I loved this book it was a perfect summer read for a geeky girl like me this book is about Charlie , Taylor and Jamie they are all going to Supacon cause there all geeky people Charlie she is a youtuber and actress and is promoting her film . Taylor who i really related to cause she has social anxiety . This book was really cute with moments of Jamie flirting with Taylor and taylor blushing right away I found so cute . Taylor and Jamie end up not being able to meet taylor's favorite author but Jamie tells Taylor about this contest but she doesn't want to enter cause of her anxiety until she meets Josie a girl with autism and Taylor decides to run . Charlie wants to avoid to asshole ex boyfriend and there is this girl she really likes who is also a youtuber they end up filming a colab and end up kissing and then they plan to have a date . Charlie's ex boyfriend ends up telling taylor the only way she's become a writer is if she sleeps with someone and he ends up punching Jamie this guy is an asshole . Charlie does this live action thing for her movie and Taylor and Jamie end up Joining in the maze and Taylor and Jamie kiss I was so happy for them but Taylor freaked out Jamie thought he was pressuring her but she wanted to kiss him . Charlie and Alyssa's kiss gets leaked and she's freaking out and Alyssa doesn't want to hide the relationship so Charlie makes a speech and her and Alyssa talk . Jamie and Taylor end up being able to go to the party and Taylor meets her favorite author this was such a cute book I loved it .
Quotes:
That's what we do. We walk a tightrope every day. Getting out the door is a tightrope. Going grocery shopping is a tightrope. Socializing is a tightrope. Things that most people consider to be normal, daily parts of life are the very things we fear and struggle with the most, and yet here we are, moving forward anyway. That's not weak.”

“My bottom lip starts to quiver, but I keep going. “I fight every day, and too many times it’s just not enough and the fear wins. I’m so fucking weak and everything is so fucking intense and sometimes I really hate it.” I gasp, covering my mouth with my hands as the tears pour out of me. I didn’t mean to say all that. I feel exposed. Tears fill her eyes, too. “Can I hug you?” I nod, unable to speak. She walks around the table and hugs me.”

Every Man Dies Alone Publisher: Melville House; Reprint edition - Hans Fallada

An extraordinary novel I am embarrassed to say I was not aware of until Melville Books (bless them) sent me a notice about it. Where the hell have I been?

Primo Levi called EVERY MAN DIES ALONE "The greatest book ever written about German resistance to the Nazis."

The Montreal Gazette said, "It is no wonder the work's reception in the English-speaking world has been the journalistic equivalent of a collective dropped jaw."

It is not only politically important (dare I say, especially in these times?), but it extraordinarily readable. Riveting, in fact. Every character crackles with vibrancy, every decision is perfectly credible. There isn't a speck of cliche. It is heartbreaking, sometimes very funny, thrilling, exhausting, beautiful and ironically life-affirming. The small man/woman, going about life. Being brave beyond measure, even in the face of . . . well, you know.

You may be thinking you've read quite enough books about WWI. May I humbly suggest that unless you've read EVERY MAN DIES ALONE you need to read just one more.

I cannot recommend this highly enough.

truly gripping
TO DIE ALONE: A Gripping British Detective Murder Mystery - John Dean

Excellent third book in the series. Can't wait for more.

In this book you are led up a blind alley, thinking you know who the murderer is. But only the brightest readers will guess the true killer.

Excellent read.
