Conflict of Interest, Aime Austin
Conflict of Interest (A Casey Cort Novel Book 4) - Aime Austin,Sylvie Fox

This was an intense murder or not story. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. Seen from the older officer and a short video clip from a security tape. This also has a lot of race questions in this. This also questions a lot of how this victim was treated after his arrest and the slow process of his not being charged after all, that all lead to his death. The ending was a surprise. The lawyer was fairly young and little experience in this type of criminal law and having some race issues in her personal life. So start reading this and let the games begin. I've given this a 4.5* rating.

Conflict of Interest
Conflict of Interest - Jae First off: trigger warning – this book has rape driven by homophobic hate as its central theme. Having said that, this book is extremely well written and gently handled.

Conflict of Interest Series #4
Leading the Witness (The Conflict of Interest Series) - Chantal Fernando

It's finally Hunter's turn and the sexy, tatted up lawyer does not disappoint. This one has a somewhat slower build on the romance with so many things keeping Hunter and Riley apart, but the chemistry between them is through the roof. I loved Hunter's patience as he quite literally woos Riley, breaking down her walls little by little. We also get some suspense by way of both Riley's ex and her past, and this one had some twists that I never saw coming. The story does stand on its own, but for those familiar with the wonderful characters of this series, we get plenty of peeks at past favorites and what is going on in their lives. This one did feel a bit more drawn out at times, but it's full of Fernando's trademark wit and sass, along with some intrigue and a romance that is both sweet and scorching hot. All in all, another solid addition to the series.

Conflict of Interest Book 3
Approaching the Bench (The Conflict of Interest Series Book 3) - Chantal Fernando

Great combination of sweet and sexy with a bit of suspense thrown in. The story is fast paced and entertaining, the characters are likable, and the dialogue is witty. I've enjoyed each book in this series, but I think Callum may be my favorite hero so far. He's funny and self-assured enough to be himself without being arrogant, and as it turns out, he's exactly what the hard-nosed Judge needs in her life. He and Trinity have good chemistry and while the suspense element is secondary to the attraction between them, it does make for an interesting turn of events. I'll be anxiously awaiting the next in this engaging series.

Romance and a bit of suspense
Seducing the Defendant (The Conflict of Interest Series) - Chantal Fernando

After reading the blurb on this one, I expected more on Scarlett's case and Jaxon fighting the attraction, but this one is more about the romance and Scarlett's transformation. This is an emotional read with both, Jaxon and Scarlett, having their own things to deal with. We also have the added suspense of who actually killed Scarlett's husband and the connections to the Wind Dragons MC. Having not read the Wind Dragons series, I'm not sure if the characters mentioned were an integral part of that series, but I had no problem following the story.

Jaxon and Scarlett didn't have that same fiery chemistry as I found in Tristan and Kat's book, but their story is just as good. Jaxon is tender and patient with Scarlett as she finds herself again and they do have good chemistry.

Overall, Jaxon and Scarlett's story is a well-written, emotional tale that kept me turning pages.
