A wonderful discovery in the form of a web novel
Mr. Tycoon's Daring Wife - Xincerely

If you love a good love story, with a dark past and plenty of hardships to overcome and a thoroughly satisfying ending then this one is a must.

What happens when you live through a horrific trauma? It changes you. There is no other way. You either succumb and die or you get stronger and you live, but you are a different you. And that is what our strong heroine is, she is a changed person who changed for the better, for the stronger and for the smarter. And she kicks as$ (quite literally).

Zhao Lifei has never had a good emotional upbringing but she was raised in wealth and that is what made her conceited and arrogant. When she survived something terrible and managed to work through her trauma and her mistakes, she was built up as a new, improved version of herself. With this still struggling version of herself she meets her destiny in the form of an amazingly hunky and dangerous CEO Yang Feng, oh and by the way, he also rules the shady part of town. When they meet they grow as people - into people whom they are then proud to present to the world. All of that happens with a world of suffering, torture, deaths, humiliation, struggle, kidnappings, resolving their pasts etc. It is a struggle worth going through because it is written in a very compelling and smart way with a dark undertone.

The characters are flawed, as well as they should be. I hate characters that are cookie cutter characters lacking any realism. These characters are flawed, yes.

Zhao Lifei is too stubborn, bottles up her feelings, builds walls around herself and projects things from her past into current situations.

Yang Feng is a bit obsessive and possessive and stubborn as all hell when it comes to things and people he loves.

They both have a dark past and are dealing with their demons. What matters is that they grow, they mature, they lessen their bad characteristics as they spend more time with each other. They help each other. I see plenty of reviews saying the male lead character is too possessive, he is like this and like that but what they fail to mention is that his first thought is like that yes, but then he is actually much more considerate in his actions albeit still a bit too possessive and then he gets burned by our kickas$ female lead and he learns, and he adapts and he realises he can do better and he does. Isn't that the point? Going through hardships and misunderstandings to actually accomplish something, realise something, grow and mature? I certainly think it is.

The storyline is great, the plot keeps getting more and more complicated and the mystery is compelling and you just want to keep reading and discovering and enjoying the process of getting to that sweet wonderful ending.

The characters are wonderful, flawed and full of battle scars and you care for them every step of the way.

The pacing is also done well, there weren't any long scenes that you'd feel like you wanted to skip or that you'd look later at and say that was completely unnecessary. It all has a meaning, gives clues and ties the loose ends in the end.

One thing that I found quite amusing was the ending itself and no, I won't spoil it. I'll just say that it has more endings than The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King XD I kept thinking my goodness, that is amazing, ah this was so good, so that is how it ends and then you turn another chapter and then there is more, and then another and another and another and in the end I might as well say that no stone was left unturned, everyone's story had a proper ending and kudos to the writer for managing it. Well done.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and a journey I'd sign myself up for at any time.

Book Review for Ruthless Sentinel (Vicious Vipers MC Book 2) Kindle Edition by Lynn Burke
Ruthless Sentinel (Vicious Vipers MC Book 2) Kindle Edition - Lynn Burke

We really enjoyed this story as it had really great characters that were fun and flirty and they made you laugh.

The more we read this series the more and more we fall in love with it's characters.Stone was one of those characters that you loved from the onset of the story although serious he was funny, sexy as sin, handsome, rugged and one of those who does not shy away from feigning interest in a women who he is lusting after and yet, has no business wanting but, can't help obsessing over a women he cannot have.I loved him as I thought he was frig-gen hilarious as he was fighting his feelings and sexual desires!
"It made for a whole lot of laughs!"
"He reminded me like a fish on a hook!"
lol

Giada was our favorite character as she was witty and defiant ,one who chose her own path, had a huge heart ,suffered bullying and abuse and betrayals and was full of sadness and had a sh** family other than her siblings yet, she still carved out a successful life and remained sane through it all but, did not become a bitter person in the process. Giada was beautiful and kind and caring and was beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

Overall the story was a really good one that was full of action and suspense, pretty much from the onset of the story and kept you glued to the pages to the very end.The story also had great characters that were engaging and funny and interesting and we are loving getting to know these new character's and we are looking forward to reading the other members stories. The story took a bit of a twist and one that we did not see coming and we like when that happens and we also loved that fact that opposites attract and these two had amazing chemistry and yet, end up perfect for one another.
This was one hot sexy read!

Book Review for Brutal Beast (Vicious Vipers MC, #5) by Lynn Burke
Brutal Beast (Vicious Vipers MC Book 5) Kindle Edition - Lynn Burke

This was and enjoyable read and we loved Virgil,Mila and Devon and their story.

I always pick a favorite character that stands out and my favorite this time around was Virgil because he always seemed almost unapproachable most of the time but, when it came to spending time with both Mila and Devon he was anything but.We loved Devon and Virgil's interactions and so forth whether Virgil realized it or not he was taking on the role of a parent while also extending friendship to a boy who seemed to be a little bit lost.

We loved the chemistry between Mila and Virgil because if you just entered a room you could feel it between them but, Mila is constantly Waring with both her heart and mind but, with very good reasons to be that way after the situation she has found herself in but, one thing is for sure is Virgil has met his match in Mila and he is addicted to her sassiness.

I really loved Mila and Virgil together they were super sweet together and even when she was trying to avoid him she was constantly drawn to the cocky alpha biker so much so her attempts made us smile.

Overall we felt it was a heart felt story and the characters we easy to love and as always we love all the teasing and so forth among the clubs members added with a bit of suspense and bitter betrayal and unanswered questions about Virgil's brother created a bit of a mystery so much so we want answers too it was the perfect read to pass the time.

A sweet story about a bride with concerns/cold feet the night and very early morning of her wedding to her childhood crush. Nisha Raje overhears that her fiancé's ex is back in town and there is talk the ex is invited to the wedding. Nisha is blindsided; she calls up Neel and asks "WTF? Did you know about this?" and Neel is tells her "Well we kinda met up." Nisha is livid, and rightfully so. Neel choose Barbara over Nisha in high school and then gave up his dream college to follow Barbara to her dream college and then on to Oxford. He was the one to break up with Barbara and return to California to seek out Nisha in the hopes of her still having feelings for him. Nisha decides to leave the mansion where the wedding is to take place and runs to the nearest contact; Neel follows her and they wind up at someone's house. After getting some advice by that guy, Neel and Nisha walk about San Francisco and lay it all out - fears, dreams, what they want from the other and what they feel for the other. Grown ups talking - it's a miracle! The wedding at the end sounded amazing (and hella expensive!). 3.5/5 stars.

This story is related to Dev's The Rajes series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Review

A very summery feeling romance, complete with a softball game. Lourdes Reyes is the sister of the groom and a recovering drug addict. She really has her act together, being almost two years sober and holding a job with a future, enjoying a renewed relationship with her brother, and just working on herself. And then he shows up - Eduardo Santana, her first and only love. The guy that broke her heart and eventually that darkness led to her taking that first hit. He's back and hoping to make it up to her, even knowing her past. There was a little misunderstanding twist that was easily rectified, then more grown ups talking! This story was aided by the side characters Alex and Frankie; I could've done without younger brother Diego trying to do the protective brother act. I feel like I need an Alex and Frankie story now. 3.5/5 stars.

Overall: I tried to read the first book in this anthology and I had to DNF - less is more and an editor was sorely needed. The two stories I bought the anthology for definitely made the 99 cents I paid worth it. I hope that the authors release these stories as single stories in the future.

Review

A cute, quick holiday novella involving Jess Davenport, a professional dancer on the reality tv competition show Dance Off! and Nik Kovalenko, also a professional dancer but not on the show. Nik and Jess share one incredible kiss at midnight at a New Year's Eve party and then go their separate ways (her to her job on the show and her volunteer work with at-risk teen girls; him to go on tour with a national Broadway show). They somewhat keep in touch via "likes" and a couple comments on each other's social media pages (ah, love in the time of IG, LOL). But Nik is back in town after the tour and decided Jess is the woman for him; so he goes about wooing her via dates to get her Scrooge mood into the holiday.

I loved Jess - she was such a great contemporary heroine. I thought Nik was a fine hero and someone who would do right by Jess. They had chemistry both in their clothes and out - the sex scenes were hot but not OTT. There are also appearances from the couples from the first two books, so you see a glimpse of their HEAs as well. Overall, I really liked this book and want to read the other books even though I am not in any way a dance show fan.
