"Frostyassed and autistic, she was; he didn't want to touch her."
Um, that sounds like he didn't want to touch her because she's autistic. Or he thinks she's autistic. Which, I just think /is/ his opinion of her. Elsewhere, Isol is called psychopathic, I think, or is said to have a psychopathic personality on top of the need to go out and see new places.
Now, this is still problematic. But I also think it makes the character who thinks this more unlikable, and I wasn't all that crazy about him to begin with - so it may just be him being an ablest asshole to purposefully make us dislike him.
So, sighs, still problematic, still have issues with this /one/ line, but I'm really, really, really, really, really, really liking the cyborg parts. Mmmmm. This is unique, this is kinda hot, and it's just right up my alley. I'm unwilling to let go of all that for one line. Then again, I've a copy of a book that supposedly makes an SS officer sympathetic, and that is one of my lines - one of my hardest of my hardcore lines. (And yes, I'm still working up to reading that one. So, if I'm willing to break one of my hardcore lines for a romance with shitloads of penis, which we all now know I'm not that cray-cray about, I sure as hell won't dismiss a whole book that was written by one of my favorite authors of one of my favorite books - Covenant of Primus! - just because I am, quite frankly, really squicked out by what one of the characters thinks.)
Though if you could manage more Isol, less of this crap, plz, I'd love that!
