TV news reporter Samantha Steele is one panic attack away from losing her job. Future on the line and cameraman in tow, she follows her mentor on an exhilarating adventure vacation. When he dies while skydiving, her investigative instincts scream “murdered”, and lead her to gorgeous thrill-seeker Zack Hunter.

Zack is an undercover police officer investigating his uncle’s death through the same adventure vacation company. Samantha is a thorn in his side the moment they meet. Not only is she investigating the same case, but the emotionally wounded loner doesn't want another partner, especially one whose goal is to splash evidence all over the evening news. But Samantha’s persistence is quite a turn-on, and Zack’s overpowering desire makes it harder for him to push her away.

When the killer turns his attention to Zack, Samantha might be the only one who can save him, forcing the anxiety-riddled correspondent to finally face her greatest fear.

Wow – this one was such an action-packed adventure! With lots of heat and steam between Samantha and Zack, and lots of mystery and intrigue around their investigation, this story moved quickly and had me entertained right from the start.

From their first meeting you could just feel the tension and energy rolling off both Samantha and Zack, and when she convinces Zack to help her investigate the adventure vacation company with her, you just know things are going to heat up between these two.

His jaw dropped. “Blackmail? Really? Do you know the penalty for that if I really am a cop?”

She snorted. “Extortion, actually. Well?”

He snapped his jaw shut. He knew very well what would happen if the adventure vacation knew his real identity, and what his bosses would do if they found out he was still investigating this case after they’d specifically pulled him off it.

Wow. She had him. He was impressed, and a little turned on.

As their investigation continues, Zack has to learn to trust and rely on someone other than himself. Still reeling from losing his partner and his uncle, Zack has decided that it’s easier to not let anyone in – that way you can’t be responsible for anyone but yourself. Carrying around the demons of his past has also left their scars, and constantly worrying about becoming the man his father was weighs heavy on Zack’s conscience.

Samantha has her own issues she is carrying around. Abandoned by her father when she was young and now responsible for her sick mother and younger sister, all while trying to keep her job at the television station, has really taken its toll on her ability to give up control and let herself live a little. And when Zack Hunter enters her life, he pushes her boundaries like no one else has… but learning to trust doesn't come easy for Samantha.

As Zack and Samantha finally give in to the attraction between them, their investigation starts to heat up and threatens to keep them apart – maybe even permanently if the killer has his way!

This was a great read and I highly recommend this one to any romantic suspense fans. There was a great balance of romance, including some great heat and steam, with the suspense of the story. The writing was bit edgy and enhanced the feel of the story – you could actually feel yourself in the news story that was being investigated. All in all a great read!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

Maltipoos are Murder Blog Tour - Interview & Giveaway
Maltipoos are Murder (Entangled Ignite) - Jacqui Lane

I'm more than halfway done with the book and really liking it.  It's fun and cute and these two authors did a great job on writing the book (there are more to come) AND on answering the questions.

Review coming soon.
