Nice production quality, decent introductory essay for those unfamiliar with the general outline of medieval history. Most of the manuscripts themselves didn't wow me, but I've probably seen more medieval illumination than most people from the Western US. If you don't have the opportunity to see collections in the UK and Germany, the Getty's is nice enough. Since this book seems aimed at non-specialists it might have been helpful to include more extensive captions.
