Review: Engineering Love
Engineering Love - Jackie Nacht

Adorable!!
I absolutely loved this sweet, no angst whatsoever, college romance.

Davis is not ready for a relationship, that’s why he’s upfront to his bedpartners about it, only one night stands, that’s it. But because of that, he has earned himself quite the reputation on campus.

Shy Adrian just transferred to Georgia Tech and hopes he will make friends soon. He lucks out with his roommates, since they accept him immediately and take him under their wing.

It is at a football game where he meets Davis, who knows his roommates. But even though Adrian heard about Davis being a bit of a player, he doesn’t quite believe it when all Davis does around Adrian is fall flat on his face or hurt himself another way in his clumsiness.

Davis is immediately smitten with Adrian. He cannot get the shy, cute guy with the dimples out of his head. The two form a tentative friendship at first, but are upfront about their attraction to each other. They just decide to take it slow… (don't worry, we get a nice steamy scene near the end)

This was a very cute romance. There is no angst whatsoever, so yay!
I loved how confident Davis got clumsy everything he was around Adrian. It was so cute.

Absolutely recommended for low-angst lovers.

Rise Out Of The Flames
Rise Out Of The Flames - Jackie Nacht Rise Out Of The Flames - Jackie Nacht This book was provided by Signal Boost Promotions and read on behalf of Thorns & Ink.

3.5

This is an interesting take on the shifter mythos. Here we have the Phoenix. They are not what you think when it comes to shifters. This is not a typical shifter story in the least. They are the sons of Helios. I enjoyed the layout of the myth, it was handle well. I do have some questions that will more than likely be addressed as the series continues.

It was a decent setup for book one. It introduces the main characters (4 brothers and their father). I would have like to have seen a little more on the history (I am not a patient reader all of the time). The mystery of what will happen next has got my mind twirling with possibilities.

This is one of those stories where there was a chance meeting because of an incident. There may be fate, and meddling brothers, but the real magic is in simply believing in love. The frantic pitch that typically goes with fated mates stories is absent here. I greatly appreciate that. It is always refreshing for an author to buck the system.

Like all of Jackie’s stories, this one is short and to the point. She gets down to business efficiently and leaves you wanting more. In a little town somewhere there is a Phoenix waiting to burn out and rise again.

If you are looking for a fresh take on the paranormal, this a great place to find it.

Halloween Mix Up
Halloween Mix Up - Jackie Nacht Halloween Mix Up - Jackie Nacht Pretty short read and not much time to get accustomed to the characters. I wish there had been more romance and more depth to the story.

See
See - Jackie Nacht Wow. This was one beautiful story.

Drew is fourteen years old and since he has come out at school, he is being bullied. After months of beatings he can’t take it anymore and plans to kill himself in the woods.

It is there he sees Mason, who tells him he is his future husband. Drew doesn’t believe him, so Mason lets him ‘see’. We get a snippet of Drew’s life, eight years in the future.

But when that isn’t enough, Mason also shows Drew what life is like for other people with Drew gone.

“I’ll be forever looking for you and you’ll be gone.”

I loved this. It was beautiful to see that Drew and Mason were destined to be together.

Jackie Nacht – Stokes and Ford (Storming Love: Blizzard #6)
Stokes & Ford (Storming Love 2 Blizzard Book 6) - Jackie Nacht

Reviewer: Lucy

Genre: MM Contemporary

Review: While this is the sixth in the Storming Love: Blizzard series, it definitely is a standalone read. Ford and Stokes are best friends. The story begins with Ford and Stokes at a party. Ford brought Stokes out because he recently had a visit from a friend from back home and as every time, Stokes is down afterwards. Ford just wants him to be happy. When the party works just a little, Stokes decides they need to go his parent’s rental cabin and go skiing/snowboarding. While Ford is hesitant, he goes along as he usually does for his friend.

The two head up, stopping to get groceries (and the bread testing was cute) and get some skiing (Ford) and snowboarding (Stokes) in. Unfortunately, the blizzard hits. Ford hates it – he can’t control the weather and this doesn’t work for him. He worries they will run out of food, the roof will collapse, and so on.

Turns out, Stokes had a reason to invite Ford to the cabin, if he can find the courage to commit to it. These two, best friends, are so cute together. I personally land on the side of Ford for the S’mores argument –I eat mine the same way. They banter, tease, support and care for each other.

Let’s discuss the sex scene. Awesome! It was so realistic for a first time couple! “Ford thought Stokes was sticking a bat up there instead of one tiny digit.” I loved their scene because it wasn’t perfect. “He tried it and didn’t like it.” Not everyone likes anal and it was refreshing to get to see that. Also, Ford getting all excited and when he “drizzled lube on the condom, missing the first time and pouring a bunch on the sheets”, I laughed.

I am a fan of friends to lovers stories and I thought this one was wonderful. It takes courage to leave your comfort zone and they did. I liked both men very much and the story was sweet and lovely.
