His Quiet Agent
His Quiet Agent - Ada Maria Soto

I really enjoyed this one. It's my first by this author, but I'm certainly interested to read more.

This is a very quiet story and a very slow build. Martin is highly shielded and Arthur is socially awkward. They're both considered weird by their coworkers and Arthur tries to find out if they're weird compliments each other.

The cover made me think this was going to be historical Brit fic rather than contemporary American, so that took a couple of chapters to adjust to. I did like the quiet tone of the book and how Martin and Arthur's relationship developed. It's difficult enough to show relationship development when the characters are talkers, even more difficult when they're not, yet somehow this author manages it. The small gestures, the show of trust and caring - it's all convincing. I was especially surprised and pleased when both MCs were revealed to be asexual and this didn't become a "fix the ace" travesty. (So those who want sex in your books, you're not going to get it here.)

There are a lot of unanswered questions, which is a given considering their jobs, and I'm ok with those. I would've liked to get to know more about Martin's backstory, but he doesn't really start to open up until the very end. The hints we get are intriguing though and opens the room for a lot of reader speculation, which in a way is more fun than getting it all spelled out for you. (Still, if ever there was a book that needs an epilogue, this is it.) There's some handwaving that needs to be done in regards to the Agency and how it appears to operate, but it didn't detract from the tension or suspense in the last quarter of the book at all. It was actually used to some great effect.

There were a few more typos than I would overlook normally, things like verb tense changes and at one point even character names get mixed up, and general typos that wouldn't get caught by spellcheck but should've been caught by an editor.

Busy
Tease - Ella Frank

This is book #4, in the Temptation series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment and understanding, I recommend reading this hot series in order.

Logan & Tate are together four years later as we continue their story.  This is where we see them try to find a place back in each other's lies after all the drama of getting together is over.

Tate is busy with his bar, and Logan is getting national recognition on a case.  Suddenly they realize that life has gotten away from them in their busy life.  Time to prioritize if they mean to go on.

This was a sweet and sexy story.  I was so glad to be back with these amazing characters!  I cannot wait to see the next installment!  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Mystery
Fear of Getting Burned (Eternal Flame Book 1) - Peter Styles

Kyle & Rick do not get along.  Rick is very snappy and impatient with Kyle.  He appears to be offended he is being bothered.  This is sad, considering Kyle was Rick's hero for a day at least.

Rick is just different.  From a different culture, region, country, etc.  They just need to learn to communicate on a level that works between them.  The attraction is certainly there for both sides, and this helps pave the way.

This story seems hot and cold.  I found myself wondering if they should even get together.  I was just not prepared for the personality clashes.  Overall, a quick and simple read.  I give this story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Only time
#Blur - Cambria Hebert

This book is # 4, in the Gearshark series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader understanding, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this amazing series in order.

Dylan AKA Arrow has had nothing but heartache until recently.  Now he has to make a decision about his future.  He does not want to bring in more pain to those he loves, so he has put off stating his own wants.

Jason AKA Hopper is attracted to Arrow.  Everytime they are in the same room, it hums with electricity.  Before they get burned, can they choose to make a future?

This was a  bittersweet story.  So much pain.  So many things broken.  Well written, and full of sparks flying.  I loved the honesty of the characters and how they sync so well.  This is really a great addition to the Gearshark series.  I give this book a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Danger
Love to Hate: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance (Only Him Book 3) - Nicole Casey

This is the 3rd book in the Only Him series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment, I recommend reading this series in order.

Jamie & Ashton are sort of friends turned rivals.  With them growing such similar businesses, it was probably inevitable.  The attraction that was between them, however, is still there.

Ashton has failed at so much.  His own father no longer wishes to help him.  He finds himself in a very bad place.  A place where he may have to rescue an old friend.

Characters who find one another hot are the reason I read romance.  These two obviously belong together.  You can feel right from the beginning for the lead and I rooted for him from the start.  This was a quick and hot read.  I give this book a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
