Review: First Rider's Call by by Kristen Britain
First Rider's Call - Kristen Britain

First Rider's Call by Kristen Britain is the second book in the Green Rider series. Karigan G'ladheon refuses to heed the Green Rider's Call. She has went back home in hopes of having a normal life, but things aren't always so easy.

I really loved Karigan in the first book, but for some reason I couldn't get into her character in this book. She seemed like a different character, which is the reason for my rating. The writing and the world Kristen Britain has created is interesting but it wasn't enough to continue with the series.

Green Rider - Kristen Britain

Green Rider by Kristen Britain is the first book in the Green Rider series. Karigan G'ladheon has run away and finds herself in a situation that is fraught with danger.

This is a beautifully written adventure of a young girl trying to find her way. Great world building and wonderful characters have made this one of my favorite stories.

First Rider's Call
First Rider's Call - Kristen Britain Started slow, but got much more compelling once characters started telling each other about the plotlines they were in. The series continues to be rather like a somewhat grittier and more desaturated Valdemar, with all the pros and cons that entails, and in some moods that's just what one wants.

Green Rider
Green Rider - Kristen Britain If you liked Valdemar but you want something a little less sparkly and more down-to-earth, aimed at your inner 17-year-old instead of your inner 13-year-old, this is a good series for you!

Review of Blackveil (Green Rider, #4) by Kristen Britain
Blackveil - Kristen Britain

A truly long wait between books in this series.  As well-written, action-packed as the others with the characters readers of this series will have invested in.

But lots of POV switching, took half the 700+ page book to get to Blackveil and while not exactly a cliffhanger left everything up in the air.  Hopefully series isn't being stretched out endlessly.

I probably would have have rated higher — because really is a very good book — had so much of it not really gone anywhere in a lot of pages or gone places I did not like (what happens with King Zachary even if I'm pretty sure where that thread is headed).

I have no no doubt this series will continue to be a favorite and the next books soothe my qualms about this one.

Maybe I should have let my book hangover resolve itself instead of rating so quickly; right now, this is my opinion of my reading experience.
