good book and characters
Chasing Xander (The Collins Brothers) - Lexi Lawton

Xander was going across campus when while carrying boxes into the dorm with her best friend Celeste from home. Kylie trips and the box she dropped had underwear in it and was right near Xander.Kylie is really embarrassed as she picks up her undergarments then Xander questions Kylie on her choice of underwear. And she goes to head for the dorm again and Xander tells her his name and she just tells him her first name- Kylie.   Kylie wanted to get away from home to go to college to get away from her absentee abusive alcoholic  father. Kylie’s mother had died when she was young and she had been raised by her grandmother who was now in a nursing home with Alzheimer's disease.   Kylie and Celeste had agreed to do the college thing together. Kylie is on an academic scholarship for college.Kylie and Celeste are in the dining room, hall when Xander and his best friend Finn walks in. Xander and finn are in a fraternity but Xander is on probation because of his poor academics the year before and he has to repeat his classes form the year before. Xander comes from a rich family and Xander's father had said if he didn't straighten out  and concentrate on his studies Xanders trust fund would be cut off. Xander and Finn went up to Kylie and Celeste and the dining hall.  There is something about Kylie that draws Xander to her. Xander really likes Kylie and goes slow plus she is still a virgin and he really doesn’t want to deal with that.Kylie is very attracted to xander.  Also Kylie was the first girl who seemed to like Xander for himself.  Kylie is notified that her grandmother has died and Celeste and Kylie get in a huge fight but Kylie doesn’t have the money to go home for the funeral. Then Xander takes it on himself to take Kylie to her grandmother's funeral.   Xander was going to stay in a motel but Kylie doesn’t want to stay alone in  the house her  grandmother had already given to her.   Before the funeral Kylie had a run in with her father. Xander and Kylie were going to leave after the funeral but the lawyer told Kylie he had some stuff to go over with her on the will  that couldn’t be done until Friday.  Xander is suppose to leave friday to fly to N Y for his mother's birthday.

I really enjoyed reading this book it made me laugh at times. I liked the twists in this story. I loved Xander and Kylie together. This had a good plot but it did drag some for me at times but not enough for me to give up on the book. I loved the growth in xander shown throughout this book. I also loved that Xander took Kylie back to Ohio for her grandmother's funeral.  I really didn’t like Kylie’s father. He needed to get out of her life and stay out of it. I thought this was a well written book. There was chemistry between Kylie and xander right away and I liked this as they didn’t rush into anything. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

Arranged - Lexi Blake

It's not a secret that I love this series, and I was super excited to find out that the playboy king would get his story told.

The thing that I loved most about this book was how it touched on the delicate subject of male submissives from a cultural point of view. It's true that society believes that men should be the dominant ones, while women should be 100% submissive, at least from a sexual perspective. Seeing Kash try to reconcile his status as king and a sexual sub was really interesting. I also loved how Ian, the ultimate Dom, gave Kash a really great speech about that. Blake really knows how to deliver some really powerful words, and she managed to do just that in this book.

Day was a wonderful heroine and I would have loved to have more scenes with her outside of her relationship with Kash. I would have wanted to see her battle her way through politics and changing the lives of so many women and girls with her ideas.

Kash was an interesting character. It's really great to see he's not just the playboy I thought him to be, he was pushed by circumstances out of his control into that life, as a way to hide from his problems. I don't agree with how he did that, but I get it. I would have wanted to see a more complex scene following a certain really dramatic scene between these two, because I feel like the way it was dealt with wasn't as dramatic as what happened between them, but in the end it all works out.

I totally didn't anticipate who the bad guy of this story was. I had my eye on another character, and I'm very happy that in the end it turned out to be someone else.

All in all a great addition to the world of Masters and Mercenaries, and, as usual, I cannot wait for more!

1001 Dark Nights: Bundle Ten - Tessa Bai... 1001 Dark Nights: Bundle Ten - Tessa Bailey,Lexi Blake,Larissa Ione,Laurelin Paige,Jenna Jacob,Sierra Simone

*Disclaimer: I received an eARC of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not influence my rating or the content of this review in any way.

Rough Rhythm by Tessa Bailey

I absolutely loved this story! I felt pretty confused about what had happened between James and Lita when they first met, but I figured it had to be pretty important for James to act like such a scared cat all the time. Lita is a relentless woman. She knows what she wants, and she wants James, no matter what he tries to do to keep her away from him. I simply adored seeing her make tiny dents into his walls with her antics.

The thing that I loved most about this story is the fact that it says it like it is, that there's a huge difference between BDSM and abuse, and for that alone I'm going to love this story and keep it in my heart forever and ever. I don't think that this fact has been as plainly stated in other books as it was in this story, and for that alone I'm going to put Bailey on my auto-buy from now on.

Devoted by Lexi Blake

I see Lexi Blake on a cover and I'm already hooked. No questions asked. I liked to see two strong characters find their way in the crazy world that is the Masters and Mercenaries series and the BDSM lifestyle.

I did however have a teeny tiny problem with Flynn not being honest with Amy. I thought that he should have told her from the very start who he was. Yes, he makes up for it, but I would have wanted for them to have a completely honest relationship from the start.

As always however, Blake knows just how to spin a story enough for that aspect of the plot to make me fall in love with the characters, flaws and all.

Z by Larissa Ione

Every new story to the Demonica series makes me giddy and happy as a clam. Not only does this story finally explores Zhubaal's story, it also hints to what will happen in the future, which OMG I have a feeling it will be epic.

In the spirit of Ione's stories, there's more to Vex and Zhubaal than meets the eye, and I adore the differences between their story and your typical soulmate story. It's even different than some other angel stories from within the Demonica series. I love how Vex challenged Zhubaal, or Z, and how she was completely opposite to what he thought she should be. I also liked reading about his inner struggle. It was, as expected, a really good story and a nice addition to the Demonica world.

And again, holy hell if what Revenant said ties in to the next generation of Demonica books, it will be epic.

Falling Under You by Laurelin Paige

I liked this story a lot. Not because of the sex, although that was hot, but because of the chemistry between Norma and Boyd, which went beyond sex, it was a chemistry that translated very well in their professional lives as well. I liked the fact that they managed to find a balance between being work partners and romantic partners. I liked the idea that you could be both romantically and professionally involved with someone, something that I normally don't see so well explored, but Paige made it work perfectly. It kind of made sense for them to end up together and to make such a great team.

I'll definitely read more books by this author.

Craving His Command by Jenna Jacob

If the first novella of this bundle said that BDSM and abuse are two very different things, this one proves it. I don't know if this was made on purpose or if it was coincidence, but I love the fact that these two stories were put together as they were.

Mercy and Kellan have an interesting story. I felt sad a lot of the times for them, because they had really sad pasts. Mercy's was scary, but important to be told because that's what makes this story important I think. And even though I was furious about the outcome and the fact that she didn't get what she wanted (sorry, I don't want to give out spoilers, but you'll read it and you'll know), it made sense for the story to be this way because unfortunately real life is full of these stories. And so maybe, just maybe, reading about it will hopefully help in changing that truly horrible fact.

I also like that just because he knows about her past, Kellan doesn't treat her like a victim, but as someone who went through something horrible, survived, and can be treated like a normal person, which she is. I enjoyed reading that. This is another author that I'll definitely read more of.

American Queen by Sierra Simone

This was a very interesting story. A very hot, interesting story. A story that I want to know more of.

Embry, Ash and Greer make an interesting threesome, and I love that there's more darkness in them than in the rest of the threesome stories I've read about before.

There's a lot of intrigue and mystery in this story that makes this novella so unique to me. It's not only the sex, it's the questions that I have about what happened when Greer was a child, as well as what will happen in her future. In their future, actually.

I will definitely keep reading this series, because I am sooo curious to learn what happens next.

Demon Hunting with a Sexy Ex - Lexi George

Duncan watched the cabin for movement. Soon she would appear the Witch of Devil's  River= Cassandra/Cassie McKenna who was more sorceress than witch able to channel power inherent in earth and stone, in the elements and living things.  Cassie was a demonoid - the immortal daughter of a fiend possessed human. Duncan was Dalvani- a warrior sworn to the pursuit of rogue demons or djegrali.  Cassie’s and Duncan’s natures set them at odds. Cassie was angry at Duncan , she was prickly and didn’t forgive easily. Duncan had hurt Cassie very cruelly in the past. It would take time and patience to reclaim Cassie. Duncan was also immortal so he had the time. Then Duncan caught a glimpse of Cassie and then he felt the most painful heightening of the senses, a heady mixture of excitement, longing , regret, and desire. The Cassie he remembered bubbled with laughter but this Cassie rarely smiled. She had even become a bit of a recluse. Cassie noticed Duncan and said she had told him to stay off her property and asked if she needed to get her gun. Cassie asked Duncan how many times did she have to tell him to leave her alone. Then Duncan told Cassie he bought the land across the river from her, it was about one hundred and fifty acres. Sad Cassie tore at Duncan’s heart but Cassie in an outrage delighted and aroused him. Cassie worked hard and now had a flourishing business. Cassie was no longer the ignorant country mouse. Duncan had known. Cassie would not allow Duncan to fluster her. The Regulator clock in Cassie’s house hadn’t worked for years but the clock had just chimed - trouble was coming maybe even death. Then cassie felt the need to get out of her house. When Cassie stepped onto her back stoop a feeling of dread engulfed her. Something was off. The perimeter of Cassie’s property was set with a spell line to alert her to danger and an invisible barrier screened her from visitors. If anyone or anything crossed the magical lines bells rang in the house and garden to let Cassie know she had company. Cassie checked the wars around her place and the spell line were still intact. Then a werewolf charged out of the trees with a heart stopping growl. He had half shifted- a young male- he was hunched and misshapen and the skin peeking through was sickly grey. Foam flecked his slathering jaw and his eyes burned red with madness. Cassie wondered how he had gotten through her security system. Cassie couldn’t find her keys in her purse and the truck was locked and the wolf was almost on her when she hit it with her purse on the nose and dove into the truck bed. Then the werewolf was also in the truck bed with her. Cassie waited for the wolf to tear into her flesh but Duncan had killed it before it got to Cassie. There was two packs of werewolves in Hannah . This one was from Pack Randall. Then Cassie flashed back to the kids- Maggie and Jimbo tore apart and dead. Cassie had promised her brother to take care of his kids and now they were dead. Cassie had left but Duncan had never stopped looking for Cassie or the murderer of the kids.Cassie had wondered about her birth mom for years - she had disappeared without a trace. Cassie had wondered if her mother had died or simply walked away. Her mother - Cybil had been demon possessed and a human possessed by a demon usually dies within a year. But Cybil had been a conjurer and a healer. She used magic to bind the demon to her but then Cybil transformed into a hag with an insatiable hunger for human flesh and Cybil had killed her own grandchildren. How Cassie had loved Duncan and losing him and the kids within days almost killed Cassie.  Cassie knew something was up in the werewolf world. There had been three sick in a month. Something smelled of black magic

I had mixed feelings about this story. It was fun to read most of the time and I liked the pace most of the time although it did drag for me at times. It was a little irritating to read at times with the Dalahni way of speaking. I couldn’t seem to connect with Cassie. There was also a little too much going on for me. I did like the little side of romance of Evan and Taryn. I believe I would have enjoyed this more if I had read the books before this one in the series as this story was a little confusing at times. But the book had a lot in it: there was witches, shapeshifters, norms, sylphs, satyrs, peskies, centaurs, imps, fairies, gods, and a lot more. So as I said I had mixed feelings. Somethings I liked and something's not so much But i do advise everyone to read the first books of the series if I had I think I might have enjoyed this more definitely understood it more

Chasing Xander (The Collins Brothers) - Lexi Lawton

This is the 2nd book in The Collins Brothers series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers, and have a better understanding of the series, please read this in order.

Kylie meets Alexander AKA "Xander" on move in day at her dorm.  He helps her pick up items that have dropped in front of the building.  She is immediately attracted, but does not believe he is interested in her.

Xander has a lot going on right now.  Adding a pretty girl who is distracting may not be the best of ideas.  When he cannot get through the day without thinking of her, he knows it is time to make a plan.

These characters were so much fun to read.  I loved the banter, and right from the start the heat between them was obvious.  Easy to root for such interesting characters, I could not put this one down until I knew the end!  I give this story a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
