good book and characters
The Irredeemable Billionaire (The Muse Series) - Lexxie Couper

Grace is a widow whose job is being a paramedic and she has a son named Cody. Grace had been married to a firefighter who got killed in the line of duty during a fire. It has been two years. Grace promised she would never replace her deceased husband.  Then Grace's childhood neighbor Sebastian and arch enemy shows up at her door to be Cody’s Big Brother. Both Grace and Sebastian/Seb are shocked.  Seb is now a famous movie director. Sebastian is in Sydney preparing for the premiere of his latest project. Seb is used to getting what he wants. Seb had been out with friends and several beers later he sees a hat he wants to try on in - Hugo’s Boss Boutique- so he broke the store window so he could try on the hat. Sebastian received community service for his misadventure. His community service was to be a Big Brother to a younger boy. Seb had constantly teased Grace growing up ,making her life miserable. But Grace gave as good as she got. Sheila is Grace’s friend and tried to help,  they had also grown up together. Sheila also runs Big Brother. Big Sister program. Sheila had put Cody’s name in to get a big brother without telling Grace. Cody is a movie geek and he and Seb bond over their love of movies. Grace doesn’t date there isn't time after work and Cody. Grace has a neighbor who brings her coffee unannounced in the morning. He is trying to insert himself into Grace's life. Even after their past Seb awakens a sleeping part of Grace and makes her want more.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a fun, silly, enjoyable read. Cody definitely added to the story and I just loved him. I liked the pace and the plot of this book a lot. I loved Seb and Grace together. At times this choked me up and at others made me smile. I do think Grace should have let go of the past sooner than she did and I think Seb should have gotten over being full of himself and being a butt a lot sooner than he did also. All and all this was a good read. I loved the characters and the ins and outs and I recommend.

The Irredeemable Billionaire (The Muse Series) by Lexxie Couper
The Irredeemable Billionaire (The Muse Series) - Lexxie Couper

The most precious gift is the one that is hard to obtain. It's been a long, winding road, but Sebastian finally got the message.  Lexxie Couper continues to surprise me by expanding her range and getting in tune with the emotional side of love, not just the physical.  The Irredeemable Billionaire is not a story of loss.  It's is a message of healing. A journey of hope and a pathway to second chances.  Grace and Seb had to travel separate paths to get them to their happily ever after, but life experience and lessons learned gave them a valuable treasure. Happiness.

Enemies who have never met? A muse with a secret? The Mistaken Billionaire is the story of an author with writers block and a woman whose life he ruined years ago.

Thomas St. Clair skyrocketed to literary fame early in his life. Mila wanted to be a reporter for the New York Times more than anything. Writing an article about St. Clair was going to be her ticket. Except, he never met with her, gave her any info, or participated in the interview in any way. So, she became and investigator and found the info to write a less than flattering article. After its publication, Thomas threatened to sue NYT if they didn't fire her. Mila is now a teacher and while she is passionate about what she does, she does still harbor a lot of resentment towards Thomas. Their chance meeting sets off a chain of events that neither can seem to stop!

Thomas falls in love at first sight with Mila. Her presence cures his writers block, and as he gets to know her, he is genuinely captivated by her. She challenges him and she can hold her own with his massive ego. He knows she is 'the one' but is willing to do anything just to keep her around him, including paying her for her time. Mila is desperate for money to help her students, and deep down, she still wants revenge on Thomas. As they get to know each other more, Mila is slowly being crushed by the weight of the secret she kept from Thomas because she has feelings for him.

I enjoyed the story and thought it was a nice balance between witty and light hearted. It is predictable for sure, but in a story like this, I don't think that is necessary tragic. I found Thomas a bit narcissistic (okay, a lot narcissistic) which made me struggle to really like him. I actually sided with Mila a great deal and while she didn't tell him her secret right away, I didn't find that to be a HORRIBLE character flaw or anything. He was really horrible to her when he torched her career because she hurt his feelings. Nothing she wrote in the article was slanderous or libidenous so she didn't break the law, only hurt his feelings. So, I struggled with Thomas for a lot of the book. He is charming for sure, and that is probably what save him in my book.

If you like a bit of enemies to lovers, artist/muse, and secret identity tropes, The Mistaken Billionaire will be right up your literary alley!

  • POV: 3rd
  • Tears: no
  • Trope: mistaken identity, enemies to lovers
  • Triggers: none
  • Series/Standalone: stand alone
  • Cliffhanger: no
  • HEA: yes

Great Story and Characters
The Mistaken Billionaire - Lexxie Couper

Mila is on the way  to her sister’s party when a dog comes running out and she almost hits him. She sees the god’s tag and goes to return him to his owner. The dog’s name was Reaper.  Thomas opens the door and thinks she is an hired escort that his assistant had hired for a charity event he must attend. Mil decides to let Thomas believe that. Somehow Mila seems to help Thomas overcome his writer's block and hires her just to be around him. She seems to look familiar to Thomas. Eight years ago Mila was an intern and promised a full time journalist job if she got an interview with the up and coming author Thomas  St. Claire. Thomas was a horror writer and had been very young and had a book on the New York Times bestseller list. But Thomas avoided Mila and she wrote something about his bad childhood and Thomas got her fired. Now Mila was a teacher in NYC for underprivileged children. She had never forgotten how Thomas had ruined her chance to be a journalist. There was something about Mila that made Thomas want to open up and tell her about the real him. Mila’s conscious i was getting the better of her and she wanted to tell Thomas the truth.

I liked this book a lot. It had a good plot and well paced. I didn’t want to put this down once I started reading it. I loved Reaper and felt he added to the book. I also loved how oddly enough Thomas felt Mila was his muse. I loved the twists and turns in this book. But it was a little predictable and I am also a little tired of the insta/love- lust. But I did enjoy it a lot and loved the characters and I recommend.

Book Review For: The Mistaken Billionaire Lexxie Couper
The Mistaken Billionaire - Lexxie Couper

'The Mistaken Billionaire' by Lexxie Couper is book Two in the "Muse" series. This is the story of Thomas St Clair and Mila Elderkin. I have not yet read the other book so for me this was easily a standalone book.
Mia is on her way to her sister's party but a dog comes running out and she almost hits him. So Mila sees that the name tag on the dog has a nearby address, so she goes to return the dog. When she knocks on the door she sees Thomas on the other side. Thomas thinks she is his hired company escort to a business function. So he is quickly taken by her beauty and how she somehow has started to get his mind thinking again. Thomas thinks that may Mila is his 'Muse' and that she can help end his writing block that he has been suffering with. Although he thinks she looks familiar he can't place were but she says they have never met.
Mila is shocked that it is actual Thomas that opens the door and is the dogs owner. Although Thomas hasn't yet remembered her she knows him. About eight years ago Mila was an intern and was promised a full time journalist job if she could get the up and coming writer Thomas St Clair to give a interview to her. But he avoided her and the interview so she wrote something else about him which in turn caused Thomas to have her fired. So now Mila is a teacher who is still somewhat upset about his part in her loosing her job.
