LibraryThing is now free to all

Apologies if this has already been posted here and I missed it.

If you haven't started a LibraryThing account or still had a free (limited) account that you hadn't upgraded, now is a great time to be using the site. There are no longer any membership fees, book limits, or ads.

12 Days of LibraryThing Scavenger Hunt

This is one of the few LibraryThing scavenger hunts that does NOT give you the possibility of upgrading to a lifetime membership, but if you have an account you do get a chance to win LibraryThing coasters or a LibraryThing tote bag. I enjoyed hunting around on the site, so I'll be participating.

Scavenger Hunt - Win a free LibraryThing lifetime membership

It's Talk Like a Pirate Day, and to celebrate, LibraryThing is holding a scavenger hunt. If you solve five of the riddles and find their corresponding LibraryThing pages, you'll be upgraded to a free lifetime membership.

LibraryThing has a bit of a learning curve, but I like using it to back up my reviews (unlike Booklikes, you can export your catalog) and keep track of my book collection (both what I have and where it's located). At any rate, if you want to give it a go, this is a nice way to get a lifetime membership so there aren't any limitations on how many books you can add to your catalog. Basic free memberships are limited to only 200 books, or whatever else you choose to catalog.

LibraryThing Egg Hunt - find 5 and get a free lifetime account

In case any of you don't have lifetime LibraryThing accounts, I figured I'd post this opportunity. There are 22 clues for 22 eggs, and if you can find 5 you get a free lifetime account. A little bar pops up at the top of any "egg" page, making it obvious whether you've found one or not.

For those used to the way Goodreads or Booklikes works, LibraryThing has a bit of a learning curve in certain areas, but the nice thing is that your LibraryThing catalog is your catalog. The data you enter for your books is almost completely unlikely to be changed by anyone but you (I'd say completely unlikely, but I'm not 100% sure of that). So if you get annoyed by books or reviews you were sure you had added to your Booklikes shelves mysteriously disappearing, it might be worth considering using LibraryThing as a backup.

There's a LibraryThing app for Android now!!!

I'm so excited. And by the way, if you don't already have a lifetime membership, you can get one if you use this app. I'm not sure how long this offer is good for.
