Luck Is No Lady
Luck Is No Lady - Amy Sandas Luck Is No Lady - Amy Sandas I thought this was a solid read: (3-3.5)
-A practical yet passionate accountant and committed older sister
-A man who makes his own family and is ultimately sweet, supportive, and loyal
-a well developed relationship
-an engaging enough plot
-well-written sexy times

I'm no HR expert, but I did have fun with this book. I struggled a bit with how this all came together, or the lack of tension. I'm not sure what was missing, but I did enjoy the elements of this book a great deal. You get a great sense of the heroine though it and how she decides to prioritize herself, or is pushed to by her sisters.

Luck Be a Lady (Rules for the Reckless)
Luck Be a Lady (Rules for the Reckless) - Meredith Duran I loved this!

My favorite of the series and I wasn't expecting to enjoyed this one as much as I did.

When Catherine was introduced in the last volume I really disliked her immensely and figured there was no way Duran could make this Ice Queen likeable but I shouldn't have been surprised because my favorite stories are the ones with an unlikable hero or heroine becomes the person you root for in the end.

I highly recommend this series and it all started because volume one had such an awesome cover! Thanks to BJ for letting me know I had made such an amazing choice because every Meredith Duran I've read has been wonderful!!

Lady Luck
Lady Luck - Kristen Ashley
3rd read - 3 April to 6 April 2016

"Welcome to sunshine."

Oh my goodness but I love Team Walker. I could kill Ty at times (many in fact) but I love this book and that 'Epiclogue' is up there with my all time favourite epilogues.

I don't often have celebrities come to mind for characters when reading and I can't remember if this casting was what I had in mind the first time I read this but after reread number 2 and most definitely after reread number 3, Sofia Bush and Shemar Moore were with me the entire way. I know Ty is clean shaven but this was Shemar in what looks like a shower and for the purposes of this book a shower pic is more important.

"Your nightmare, mama, was my dream.

Never had a home until you gave me one.

Never had anyone give to me the way you gave to me.

Never thought of findin' a women who I wanted to have my baby.

Never had light in my life, never, not once. I lived wild but I didn't burn bright until you shined your light on me.

Whacked, fuckin' insane, but at night, you curled in front of me, didn't mind I did that time that wasn't mine 'cause it meant I walked out to you.

Your nightmare, my dream."

Tyrell Walker may use the endearment 'mama' but the man made it work.

Lexie and Ty are the dream team. My perfect KA couple and all the drama they endure is so, so, so worth it.

The secondary characters in this are also the absolute business, Julius Champion in particular and the brother love between him and Ty was adorable. The love between Ty and Tate actually made me cry because I am a total sap.

This was a reread BR with the lovely Susan who abandoned me in the middle to go have a night out on the rooftop of a gay leather bar in NY. Without me. I am totally sure that the rules of BR'ing state that you must bring said BR'er with you to awesome events while both are still reading the book. 3,176 miles be damned.

Luck Is No Lady
Luck Is No Lady (Fallen Ladies) - Amy Sandas

Who knew that tying a cravat, playing cards, and getting your hand kissed would be so sensual, intimate, and erotic?! This book had me at it's first paragraph. I stayed up until 330 this morning to finish it.
Emma and Roderick first meet behind a curtain, both in hiding from different people. It's dark and neither exchange names, but each knows enough to later identify the other. Emma's responsible for her 2 younger sisters. Prior to that, she was the primary caregiver for her sick mother. Then a caregiver, of sorts, for her father. He dies and leaves a huge gambling debt. Roderick is despised by society because of his conception (he's a bastard), but at the same time sought out for advice/insight for investments. His family and home is his employees and gambling business.
I adored both Emma and Roderick. Both Emma and Roderick are smart, confident, empathetic, supportive, and loyal. Roderick was not an Alpha-hole that is so popular in many romances. He is much more Beta and that's a wonderful thing. I loved the slow build of their romance.
This is a bit different from other historical romances in that Emma finds a job; as a bookkeeper. I liked her mathematical skills. Neither are titled. I also liked how Emma decided to pay off her father's debt. There's more that happens in regards to that. Emma's sisters, Portia and Lily are also likable, as are Roderick's employees.
The reason for the 4.5 (instead of 5, because I did adore this book- and it should be noted I don't give 5 stars out often) is I would have liked to know what happened with Hale. Portia and Lily's stories are also left unfinished. There does look to be a book 2 (oh geez not until November!) that I assume might be one of the sisters.

Luck Is No Lady (Fallen Ladies) - Amy Sandas

I enjoyed the story greatly. I read the whole thing in less than two days. Just devoured it. Loved the characters, the setting, the plot, the conflict, and the passion. I adored the last scene at the ball where Emma goes for what she truly wants in a very public way. Roderick was a fascinating character. He had all of the characteristics that I enjoy in a male lead; dynamic, mysterious, strong, passionate, a bit tormented, and all male. He owned the page every time he was on it. I didn't want the story to end. I wanted more. I want to know what happens with the other two sisters and even with the villain Hale. He wasn't altogether a bad person. This is the first book by this author I have read. This is the first book in a trilogy, so I look forward to book 2 and 3. It reminded me a lot of Sarah MacLean's The Rules of Scoundrels series. Great read! Loved it!!
