Hacking Darkness: A Reverse Harem Romance (Dark Codes Book 1)
Hacking Darkness: A Reverse Harem Romanc... Hacking Darkness: A Reverse Harem Romance (Dark Codes Book 1) - Marissa Farrar

Hacking Darkness is a reverse harem romance with a Stockholm syndrome feel. I was intrigued by the plot: a girl witnesses her FBI agent father's assassination, later finds out she might know the code to bring her father's killers to justice. Of course, the killers do not want that to happen. She is kidnapped by 5 men who SWEAR they are really the good guys who are just trying to keep her alive. Yet they keep her in a basement and treat her like a prisoner...

Darcy is really a prisoner for the first 75% of the story. She has no idea what these guys want from her and she is terrified that even if she could give them what they want, it would be the end of her life regardless. Eventually, she does start to believe some of what they are telling her about the man she thought was her father's friend and she agrees to help them. She certainly feels attracted to a few of the guys (all but Issac), hence the Stockholm syndrome vibe. Most of the guys are very nice to her. You really can tell they don't want to hurt her, but the info she has locked in her head is crucial.

My issue with the book is Issac. He is the leader of the guys and probably the most offensive 'hero' I have read in a long time. He is cruel and abusive to Darcy because he is determined to get the information with or without her consent. The final scene in the book is what really sealed my dislike of him. Essentially, he sexually assaults her with his fingers. In front of all the other guys. While one of them holds her still. WTF?

Until that point, this was a decent story, so I am giving it 3 stars. Do I plan to continue the series? Probably not. I just cannot imagine ever being okay with any of the guys after what Issac did to Darcy and they all watched.

  • POV: 1st
  • Tears: no
  • Trope: reverse harem, on the run
  • Triggers: Kidnapping and dubious consent for sure
  • Series/Standalone: series
  • Cliffhanger: yes
  • HEA: not at the end of this book

Phoenix by Julia Reed and Autumn Clarke, 4 psychos by Kristy Cunning, Love Potion by Mary Martel...then you will probably like Hacking Darkness!

REVIEW
Wow what a story. This is the second book in this fascinating series and oh my gosh so good.
Darcy, Darcy, Oh Darcy why can't you just leave well enough alone?
The guys are head over heels that is obvious but things are going to spiral even further out of control.

Darcy finally gets to meet the leader? Wow
And they have her Aunt too?

I can't say much more as I don't want to give anything away all I can say is grab this book. I would highly suggest you read book one first.

REVIEW
Wow this book takes us on a twisted ride.
Darcy lost her dad at a young age and was raised during the teenage years by her aunt. She feels bad yes about putting her through the ringer but hopefully things will change now that she is older.

The men her father worked with at the FBI show up on her door after a newspaper releases a story Darcy gave them and everything turns dark.

Gripping and yep we get a cliffhanger so I can hope the next book isn't too far off. I loved this story!

“I read this book via Kindle Unlimited.”

REVIEW
I have very much enjoyed this series. Each book was more intense than the next and in this the finale well it shattered me.
V has lived her miserable life with one goal. Protecting her sister Nicole from their father and his evil, demented minions. Nicole, however, has grown up since the last book, and in this one, you will see how much.
X is well not much help for a bit in this book. But what he endures is hideous, to say the least. For a man who was once part of protecting others, he finds himself on the other side even more than he already lives.

All I can say is have the tissues ready if you have invested yourself in this series. You will need them.
I loved it although it broke my heart.

REVIEW
This is a set compiled of several very sexy although short stories. Very entertaining. I am leaving a review for 6 of the 7.

Carved in Ink by Marissa Farrar
I absolutely loved this story. We get a young woman who inherits a tattoo shop from her late aunt. Only one problem Theresa must move to London.
Art is the tenant, and he is hiding a bit about things from his new landlord. One night almost ruins things for this couple. Fantastic, hot, sexy short read. I hope there is more to this one.

Fast Lust By Lucy Felthouse
New to me author:
Gloria is a reporter but not an exciting one until her boss has no choice but to send her into the lion's den so to speak. Her job is to interview a biker. Now how to do that?
She wants the underdog and thinks she has found it with Rafe or has she? Another really sexy read.

Heavy Metal Lust by Victoria Blisse
New to me author:
This story is hot! We get a younger man with an older woman. He is a rocker, and she is a single mom. Very sexy read indeed.

Innocent Lies by Lexie Bay
New to me author:
This story is not only sexy and hot it's suspenseful and a bit dark.
Raine is the daughter of a mobster who after losing his wife has become evil. Her brother Archie is no help and when daddy dearest passes her brother becomes just like dear old dad.
Enter Tommy, another mobster but one with a heart? This story is one heck of a good read.

In Training by K D Grace
New to me author:
Lauren is one heck of a PR person, so she is thrown big time when her boss puts her smack dab into a reality tv show. Wolf is a trainer and actor with a successful business.
He is all on board for this reality show until the woman he is to be training is someone he wants more than to train.
Sexy, and Hot!

The Gamesman by Tabitha Rayne
A Scottish Gamer and a Journalist what more could you want? Although Harriett wants Archie, he isn't feeling her the same way. This was one scorching short read.
