Take Me Back - Meghan March

When I heard that Meghan March would be releasing a new stand-alone novel I was over the moon. I have been a fan ever since being introduced to her ‘Beneath’ series. When I started this book, I thought this would be an emotional read about a couple, trying to rekindle the flames in their marriage. Indeed that was the case, but it went deeper than that, in fact, the turn of events took me by surprise. From that point, I had difficulty putting my kindle down. This is the second book that I have read in less than a week that blindsided me in a good way.

‘Take Me Back" is an amazing second chance love story. It's an intense, touching, addictive, sexy and suspenseful read that kept me on the edge of my seat. The story started out slow, but that pace was fitting for the events at that time, but then at around fifty-five percent, the angle of the story changed in a manner I never saw coming. Based on how the story was going, I knew something was going to happen but it went beyond what I expected. However, the secrets that Dane had kept about his life made the events fitting.

The story told from Dane and Kat’s perspective was written mainly in the present day. There were flashbacks to help readers understand what led them to their current position. Dane recognized that he and Kat had issues that needed solving and so he decided to take steps to address these issues. However, he ended up getting more than he bargained for.

This is a well-written story with fantastic characters. The romance and suspense were well-balanced. I should warn you the romance was written in true Meghan March style. That is hot and steamy. The story flowed seamlessly from start to finish and the pacing good. The story which was gripping held me captive to the end. It was not perfect as there was a particular scene, which I found somewhat unrealistic. I choose not to state what it is as doing may lead to spoilers. This, however, did not make me like the story any less.

This novel reinforced the fact that for relationships to succeed all parties involved need to play their part. Without the proper nurturing, a relationship is bound for failure. The first step in salvaging what was lost is to recognize that there is indeed a problem. I liked that Dane and Kat recognized that they had problems. Their love for each other gave them the strength to fight for what they once had. Their willingness to accept their share of the blame for the breakdown of their marriage was admirable. Theirs was a marriage established on secrets and lies, which would come back to haunt them.

Verdict:

Take Me Back is a story of forgiveness, loss, restoration and healing. If you enjoy second chance romances that are action-packed and have some steamy scenes then this book is for you.

Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She's also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she's ever had. She loves hearing from her readers at meghanmarchbooks@gmail.com.

Real Good Love (Real Duet Book 2) - Meghan March

"Real Good Love" is the exciting conclusion to the Real Good Duet.  The first book Real Good Man had left me with many questions, which made me eager for the release of Real Good Love.  Thankfully, I did not have to wait too long to receive the answers to my questions.  It picked up from where the first book left off, and with a lot more excitement.  Not only did it have the sexy and humorous banter that I had come to expect from Logan and Banner, it was suspenseful and emotional which added to the intensity of the story.

In Real Good Love, the author explored Logan and Banner’s relationship on a deeper level.  In doing so, she enabled me to experience everything they went through as a couple, thus allowing me to be able to relate to them. They experienced changes that could have had an adverse effect on their relationship, but instead, they used the experience gained to help make their relationship stronger.

The romance and the mystery element were well balanced. The small community Gold Haven has once again gained the attention of the outside world. Everyone is a suspect and no one can be trusted.  Personally, I believe that the element of a good mystery is one that keeps you guessing until the end, and Meghan March did an excellent job where this was concerned. She kept me in suspense the whole time and I was surprised when I discovered who was behind the distribution of meth.

The story flowed smoothly, the pacing was good and there was never a dull moment. There was lots of drama to keep readers glued to the pages.

VERDICT
If you enjoy sizzling romance sprinkled with humour, mystery, and suspense then you will love this series.

Beneath This Ink
Beneath This Ink - Meghan March,Arni Arn... Beneath This Ink - Meghan March,Arni Arndt,Sebastian York This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life.

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. This is one of those books that I think really is more enjoyable in audio format largely because of the wonderful pair of narrators. This is the second book in the Beneath series but it can easily be read as a stand alone since it focuses on one pair of characters. This was a really quick and entertaining story that had a lot going for it.

This book focused on Vanessa and Con. Vanessa is a rich girl working at a not for profit who needs something from Con. Con is a tattooed bad boy who is all alpha male. They have known each other since they were in school and even spent one night together a couple of years ago that Con can't remember and Vanessa can't forget. They strike a deal to spend a bit of time together before Con's land changes hands.

I liked Con and Vanessa together. It was evident early on that there was more to each of these characters than the obvious and they seemed to see that in each other. There was a lot of chemistry between the pair from the start that only intensified over the course of the story. There were some pretty hot scenes and some that were more tender.

There were a few things that I found problematic in the story. Vanessa's issue with eating in front of other people vanished really quickly with just a word from Con. If she had as big of an issue as it was made to be, I don't think that she would overcome it as fast as she did. I also wanted to see Vanessa speak up for herself more because she seemed to let everyone push her around. I was able to just go along with these things and enjoy the story despite these minor issues.

I absolutely loved the narration of this audiobook. I have listed to two other books in this series with the same pair of narrators and that is what made me decide to purchase this audiobook. Sebastian York does such a good job at narrating a bad boy with a softer side and Andi Arndt captured Vanessa's personality perfectly. I think that the alternating points of view paired with different narrators really made the book come alive. I plan to listen to both of these narrators again soon.

I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. I would definitely recommend picking up the audio in this book if at all possible because I think it adds to the overall experience. I hope to read more from this author soon.

Initial Thoughts
I love this pair of narrators. I know that I liked this book a lot more because I chose to listen to it rather than read the book myself. The story wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it anyway.
