Taking His Shot (Hot Jocks #7) by: Kendall Ryan
Taking His Shot (Hot Jocks #7) - Kendall Ryan

Taking His Shot by Kendall Ryan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forget sparks, Taking His Shot breathes fire. The master of foreplay is back to make hearts swoon and kick hormones into overdrive. Ryan continues to spice it up with her signature style of heat, emotions and humor to even out some of the heartache. Jodie and Harper make it hard to say goodbye, but remind me why I fell head over heart for these Hot Jocks along the way.

Taking a Shot (Montana Wolfpack) by Taryn Leigh Taylor
Taking a Shot - Taryn Leigh Taylor

Chelsea's looking to spread her wings. Brett is trying to tone himself down. When the right people meet at the wrong time, there's bound to be chaos. Like finding out your one night stand has a connection to your everyday life that could blow up in a very big way. Taking a Shot jump starts the heart with sex appeal, laughter and happily ever after. A fun way to get your flirt on.

Taking a Shot
Taking a Shot - Jaci Burton
DNF at 40%

It's OFFICIAL>>This book feels like a replica of the prior two with minor details changed (and actually the beginning felt fresh, Ty felt really different)

I got through the last one because of the sexy times. I quit this one partially due to the overuse of the word sexy. Go figure.

It's a total shame that this felt like it was borrowed from Burton's prior work because
I like Ty’s brand of alpha more than anything about this book. He’s so confident, he doesn’t flip when he sees Jenna pick up another man. Sure, he’s slightly jealous, but he notices they lack chemistry, and keeps his chill.

I think I’ve seen that approximately never in a romance before. Not purposefully that I can recall any way. Why is this amazing? I feel like it’s how a mature confident man would typically act. My husband is not really either of those things but he still manages to be confident in me ending up with him without being a jealous d-bag.

What a bummer. Because, like, these covers. Maybe it's just better to eat these than read them anyway...

Taking A Shot

The Characters

Jenna Riley
Tyler Anderson

The Story

An enjoyable tale about a hockey player and a bartender turned singer. This story is heavy on the sex and on getting to know Jenna. I don’t feel like we got much of Ty beyond his parental issues. However, they make a good couple. I’m interested in how their future. I’m sure we see glimpses in subsequent books.

The Random Thoughts

I’m not sure if COCK and PUSSY were written in all caps or if the narrator just felt those words should be over stress but man did they really stand out.

Taking a Shot
Taking a Shot (Portland Storm) - Catherine Gayle

This is the book/novella I have been waiting for! This is the story of Jamie/Babs and Katie, two of the characters that I fell in love with in the second book, On the Fly. I love these books for so many reasons... hockey, romance, and real issues and emotions. This one is no different.

Even as short as it might be, there is so much emotion packed into it. Katie's story alone is heart wrenchingly poignant and cry-worthy. Jamie is everything I could ever want in a Book Boyfriend. He is kind and caring and completely grounded in the important things.

I absolutely love this storyline and I am thrilled that they will be back in April 2015 in Dropping Gloves, Book #7 in this great series!

Things to love...

--The intense emotional pull of the story
--Babs... he is NOT what the stereotype of NHL players may be.

Things I wanted more/less of...

--Babs and Katie!!

My Recommendation

This is technically Book #2.5, but it can really be read any time after On the Fly and before Double Major. It is a fantastic addition to the story!
