This was a traditional fluffy paranormal romance novel that I didn't know I needed! It was simple and to the point. I've been reading paranormal romance books that need to have very well built and complex universes and this was just what I needed to detox some of that (I, in no way, mean that in a bad way!).
Lacey was a great character to get to know! She's had the life drained out of her since she was young by her mother. The financial situation she's in now was also her mother's fault. She's trying to stay afloat and in comes a not-even-past-boyfriend to make things even worse. I liked how that situation didn't have a lasting impression on her life when it comes to guys. She's fun, loyal and caring.
Daniel was a breath of fresh air! He has an alpha *sshole vibe but proved to be anything but when it comes to his family and Lacey. Though he's not a saint because he has had a past encounter with her and did apologize for it without being asked. I liked how he was respectful of her and how he wanted to help her in any way he could.
By the end, I was beginning to think that the situation with not-even-past-boyfriend was just going to disappear but I'm glad it didn't. It was a tad bit rushed but it was well written. I'm glad everything got resolved and the epilogue was sweet!

"Lacey, I just told you monsters are real. [Having you run screaming] wouldn't be unwarranted."
