Undone by Shannon Richard
Undone - Shannon Richard
This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

I just loved this book! I have had this book for years but failed to take the time to read it until now and I must that I am a little mad at myself for not picking it up sooner. Once I started reading this story, I was hooked and did not want to put it down and found myself reaching for it every chance I had. I am so glad that I finally decided to give this one a try.

Things have not been going great for Paige. She has lost her job, her apartment, and her boyfriend in short order. As a result, she was forced to move back in with her parents who now live in the small town of Mirabelle, Florida. It has not been an easy transition and she feels like most of the town is against her. Her vehicle breaks down after a horrible interview and the town's handsome mechanic comes to her rescue.

Brendan has lived in Mirabelle all of his life and knows how hard some of the residents can be on new residents like Paige. He hasn't had things easy in his life but he has a great support system including his grandparents, his sister, and a great group of friends. He decides to help Paige out just a bit and he also plans to spend a little more time getting to know her.

I really liked Paige and Brendan. I thought that both of these characters felt very real, like someone I wouldn't be surprised to meet. They were fun together and I loved the chemistry between the pair. This was a pretty low drama story for much of the book and I really enjoyed just spending time with these two as they fell in love. There is some excitement before the book is over but I must say that I liked the parts of the book that just focused on these two getting to know each other. Paige and Brendan were not perfect and they made some mistakes but I think that helped them to feel more authentic. The secondary characters were very well developed and I appreciated what they brought to the story.

I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. I thought that this was a really well-done romance filled with wonderful characters and a lot of sparks. I would not hesitate to read more of this author's work in the future.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley.

Initial Thoughts
I just loved this book and I am kind of mad at myself for not reading it sooner. Paige and Brendan were fantastic characters and they were so good together. The bulk of the story is rather drama free and I really enjoyed stepping back and watching Paige and Brendan fall for each other. Some drama does show up before the story draws to a close but I had a pretty good feeling that these two would find their happily ever after at that point.

Undone by the Duke
Undone by the Duke - Michelle Willingham

The mistaken/unknown identity tropes is one of my favorites (most of the time). I was really enjoying this right to Jonathon's ultimatum (marry me or else!). After that, it was downhill for me. Not talking, making (wrong) assumptions, and misunderstandings. Jonathon not wanting to open up about the death of his parents, but expecting total honesty from Victoria.
Victoria was an interesting character (after she was lost in the highlands for a few days, she developed a fear (agoraphobia) and never left the house). It took a long time for her to grow some spine and stand up to Jonathon.
There's also an evil lord who is a neighbor, arson, and a secondary love story (well kind of- I thought there might be a little more there, but that story line got dumped) featuring Victoria's parents.

Coming Undone by KouriArashi
Coming Undone - KouriArashi

An absorbing fanfic with an excellent plot. The author voices Stiles to perfection. No sex.

Audiobook Review: Billionaire Undone ~ Travis (The Billionaire's Obsession, #5) by J.S. Scott (Author), Elizabeth Powers (Narrator)
Billionaire Undone ~ Travis (The Billionaire's Obsession, #5) - Elizabeth Powers,J.S. Scott

Mr. Sensible is about to lose all sense of reason. Scott saved the most intriguing Harrison for last and Travis definitely lived up to the hype. Behind the fancy suits and blistering tongue beats the heart of a complicated, yet sensitive man. He feels deeply and love is something Travis never wants any part of. His stoic personality and guarded heart becomes a fierce liability when Ally Caldwell enters his life. Just when everything seems to be coming together, a surprising turn of events reeks chaos on two slightly bruised hearts. Billionaire Undone delves behind the icy exterior to reveal a man that knows fear, yet craves love. Travis and Ally are my favorite obsession to date in this fiery, unpredictable and emotional series. Resistance is futile. One glimpse and I was hooked.

Undone by Karin Slaughter
Undone (Grant County) - Karin Slaughter

I started this as an audiobook, but couldn't sustain listening to it - it was too graphically violent. When I read a violent book, I'm able to skip over the really detailed violence. With an audiobook, I can't do that. I have decided that Karin Slaughter's audiobooks aren't for me for that reason.

I got to about the midpoint, and wanted to know how it ended, so I checked it out of the library.

I really like the Will Trent series, but I also just wish that Slaughter would dial back the graphic descriptions about five notches. I love the interactions between Faith & Will, and this is the book that brings her two series together - Grant County's Sara Linton is now working in Atlanta and meets Faith & Will at the beginning of the book.

As is always the case, Slaughter's plot was well-crafted and highly readable. The murderer wasn't entirely convincing, and the resolution was really not very believable. She does put together a wild ride, though.

I think that fans of the Lucas Davenport books might enjoy Slaughter's mysteries. They are similar in execution, but her characters do a lot less tripping over their own dicks. They aren't quite as good as the Bosch series at that sort of noir, hard-boiled police procedural thing, but they are still good reads. If you can make your way past the descriptions of trauma and pain.
