Tek: The Modern Cave Boy
Tek: The Modern Cave Boy - Patrick McDonnell

5 Stars, Buy it.

The kindle version of this is a little weird, it has outlines on the pages and looks like you are reading it on your phone because there is a battery and wi fi signal on it. Anyway, this is a cute story about a little guy named tek who is completely hooked on gadgets. Once tek gets away from his gadgets, the weird outlines disapear and everything looks normal.  Such a totally and sweet adorable book. Of course it’s written by Patrick Mcdonnell, so it’s no surprise it’s incredibly juicy and sweet. Highly recommend. My only complaint is that it’s too short.

Narwhat: Unicorn of the Sea
Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea (A Narwhal and Jelly Book) - Ben Clanton

5 Stars, buy it

Netgalley review.

Great little children’s book on a Narwhal and a Jellyfish who doesn’t believe the Narwhal is real. There are some cute facts on the Narhwal and the Jellyfish so it’s also educational as well as being cute. I love the art! And the stories are really sweet. I definitely recommend this.

The Misadverntures of Salem Hyde 5: Frozen Fiasco
The Misadventures of Salem Hyde: Book Five: Frozen Fiasco - Frank Cammuso

4.5 Stars, buy it

For some reason, this 42 almost 43 year old woman loves comic books and young adult comics and graphic novels. This is actually younger than young adult but I still love this series.  This issue or book is done in black and white and blue which adds to the mood of the frozen topic.  Of course there is a talking cat, and I always love talking animals. Great addition to the series. Made me smile and laugh.

The Misadventures of Salem Hyde: Book Four: Dinosaur Dilemma
The Misadventures of Salem Hyde - Frank Cammuso

4.5 Stars, Buy it

Self Purchase, Comixology

I absolutely love this series.  It’s a total guilty pleasure. Whammy (the cat) is awesome and is trying to look out for Salem (his human).  Salem gets into her usual trouble this volume using magic and dinosaurs which you know can’t be a good mix. (See below for full description).  I love the silliness of the series. I love the artwork. Pretty much love everything about this series. My one issue with this volume is that all of the coloring is done in yellow. I’m not a big fan of the color yellow. Other than that, this is just about perfect, for both kids and adults who love kid books.

Description (Comixology): Young witch Salem Hyde needs an idea for her science project, and she needs it fast. While on a field trip to the Natural History Museum, Salem decides that dinosaurs are the perfect answer. She uses magic to cut corners but finds that her efforts have disastrous results when the egg she brings home hatches during the night. Good thing Whammy is there to help Salem keep the baby dinosaur out of trouble and clean up this magical mess! Salem and Whammy are an irresistible duo in a book perfect for the youngest independent readers.

Alligators! Learn About Alligators and Enjoy Colorful Pictures - Look and Learn!
Alligators! Learn About Alligators and Enjoy Colorful Pictures - Look and Learn! (50+ Photos of Alligators) - Becky Wolff

2.5 Stars, don’t bother

So at this point with this series, I don’t really care about what order I’m reading them in so for the most part I’m going from what I’ve had on my kindle the longest.  I think I’ve done all the fuzzy and cute ones that I’ve had so I’m down to animals I don’t have a huge interest in and some non animal ones.. I’m also a bit bored with doing these so I doubt I’ll get any more. I’d like to review National Geographic kid books which I actually don’t mind paying for.

The pictures are small and hard to see and somewhat pixelated. I don’t like that there really isn’t an explanation on what makes alligators different than crocodiles.  Overall, I didn’t learn much about alligators that I didn’t already know and really found this one boring as hell. I’m sure there are much better books for kids to read on alligators than this.

Did you know?

There are two different species of alligator.

Alligators can weigh over 1000 pounds

Alligator eggs become male or female depending on the temperature

Alligators have a third eyelid.

Alligator can move much faster than a human can run

The average lifespan for alligators is 50 years
