Review: VHS: An Urban Nightmare by Kyle M. Scott
VHS: An Urban Nightmare (Razorblade Candies Book 2) - Kyle M. Scott

VHS is another hard hitting, horrific, and gory short from the twisted mind of Kyle M. Scott. It's my fourth read from the Razorblade Candies series, and like the others, it did not disappoint.

All too often short stories feel incomplete, more of an idea than an actual complete satisfying read, not so with the Razorblade Candies. Even at just 55 pages, there is a lot going on and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's imaginative, bloody, and a great read.

I'm looking forwards to reading more from this series of shorts in the future.

Review: The Wild: A Campfire Tale by Kyle M. Scott
The Wild: A Campfire Tale (Razorblade Candies Book 3) - Kyle M. Scott

I received a free copy of The Wild from the author in return for an honest review.

On it's own this story is a great stand alone, fast paced, gory and adrenaline fuelled read. I would like to point out however that there is a twist that fans of the authors previous works will totally fangirl over and I would advise those who haven't read his earlier books to perhaps do so before reading this one as I'd hate for you to miss out on that moment. Though I suppose now that I'm typing this I'm thinking that actually the twist could work backwards too, but personally I would suggest reading Consumed: Volume 1 beforehand.

As I do with all of Kyle's books, I highly recommend reading The Wild. I'm a huge fan of his style of horror and have yet to be disappointed when picking up his books.

Sugar Baby
Sugar Baby: Confections, Candies, Cakes, & Other Delicious Recipes for Cooking with Sugar - Gesine Bullock-Prado,Tina Rupp

Just what I needed in my life, a book completely about cooking sugar.  I definitely have a sweet tooth and knowing how to make my own candies and pastry creams could prove dangerous.  In the very beginning of the book the question "Isn't sugar bad for you?" is asked.  Sugar Baby's wonderful answer is "Sugar in moderation is okay as long as it is beautifully and lovingly prepared." This is what I'm going with.

Sugar baby is written with passion and personality.  Cooking with sugar can be tricky and dangerous, but with the constant safety reminders, reassurances and personal tips you can pretend that someone is there holding your hand throughout the process.

The book is organized by the temperature that the sugar needs to be cooked at with simpler recipes at the beginning of the section and working your way up in complexity.  I know that I cannot wait to make my own Bavarian creme, candy corn, maple candy, and honey nougat. Now I just need to get my own candy thermometer.

This book was provided for free from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Holiday Candies and Cakes - June Kessler Holiday Candies and Cakes - June Kessler This is the third book I have reviewed by this author. It didn't "WOW" me like the previous ones. This one is much shorter and I don't find the recipes as unique as some of her other ones. This one, specifically on holiday candy and cakes, I thought had recipes that could be made anytime of the year vs. specifically holiday focused.
