How to Train Your Dragon - Cressida Cowell

For more reviews check out my blog: Craft-Cycle

I really did not know what to expect going into this. I absolutely love the movies that this book inspired and wasn't sure how they would compare to the book series.

To start off, the movie is vastly different from the book. It doesn't really follow the book at all. The plot is different. The characters are slightly different. Even Toothless is different. That's not a bad thing, but for people who have seen the movie, don't expect that book to be anything like it. The movie takes the very basic elements and build upon them.

Having said that, the book is amazing. I really enjoyed it. After I got used to how different it is from the movie, I was complete absorbed in it. Fun writing style (I always love Cowell), great development. Such a pleasure to read.

There were some things I did like better about the movie. There are very few women/girls in the book so I do really like the incorporation of more females in the movie. There were also some quite graphic and gory scenes I wasn't expecting. Exploding dragons, eating sheep, cannibalism. More violent that I was expecting, but still a very entertaining and fun book.

Overall, a great read. I already have the second book and will certainly be continuing this series.

This book was time captivating.

Whenever I was bored I could read this book.

I love how it has pictures and I love how it's written.

Wish I could get the second book soon.

Couldn't really help myself. It is the annual book fair and found so many books that I have missed.

The 8 books read this month is not going to make that much of a dent.

Summary

Enjoyable read.

Doing some volunteer work on weekend and lessen the time available for reading. Want to start reading non-fiction books but got tired and escape to fictional book world instead.

Hiccup new adventure when Fishleg wrote a poem
How to Break a Dragon's Heart (Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III #8) - Cressida Cowell

Hiccup in How to train a dragon series has a new adventure.

Fishleg found where he belongs even when he is adopted.

In between is Fishleg has a crush and was sent on a quest.

Toothless is much smaller dragon, dog size and would swallow a lot of things it shouldn't have.

A fun book on Viking dragons with load of drawing and hand-written scripts, ugly one that make it more childlike. The look and feel of this book is so good younger persons would enjoyed it a lot.

The characters development is good and pretty consistent.

Highly recommended for children and adults.

Book themes for Sinterklaas / St. Martin’s Day / Krampusnacht: A Story involving children or a young adult book.

Pick this one up on sale. I like the series as it is a few children book that has a child with disability as the main character.

Started. Not yet completed.
