A nice short overview telling how to cut costs of living and save money. This is quite basic with some great recipes included to make household and beauty items. Just by following Allison's simple recommendations, one should be able to get of of the paycheck to paycheck trap.
Mixed thoughts on this one. Some ideas were interesting enough and there were a few tips to take away from this. Yet there were just as many that had me gaping at the book. Some of these are very tacky and I would be embarrassed to do. OR if I could make it work and not look BAD, would take a lot of work. While some basic ideas here are good, I felt that many were reaching in being frugal to being stingy. While I love doing things on the cheap, I don't need my home to look like half my belongings came out of a homeless person's shopping cart and some tricks here go that direction. 
Nice amount of information and lots of good tips on saving money. Unfortunately I didn't learn anything new. This would be great for the first timer or younger person who has never been one to attempt to save money before .
Boy, does this date me, but I can remember when the Frugal Gourmet was a popular cooking show on Public Television. I like the variety of his international cookbook. It doesn't just have the usual suspects such as German, Indian, Irish, Japanese, Mexican, Russian, Thai but Armenian, Basque, Cambodian, Filipino, Hawaiian, Korean, Puerto Rican, etc. A fun book to read and to cook from.
