DUKE OF STORM by Gaelen Foley
Duke of Storm (Moonlight Square, Book 3)... Duke of Storm (Moonlight Square, Book 3) - Gaelen Foley

The previous 3 Dukes of Amberly have died in a short period of time.  The new Duke is from Ireland and faces much discrimination.  The Ton wants nothing to do with him but it is up to him to figure out what happened to the other three Dukes when he learns that others believed they were murdered.  He needs an entrée to the Ton which he gets through his neighbor, Lady Margaret Winthrop, who lives with her married sister.

I liked Connor, the new Duke, but I loved Maggie (Margaret).  She was feisty and would not let Connor treat her like his troops.  Her sister I would have loved to dropped kicked her.  She was a witch of the first order.  Thoroughly disagreeable!  The male villain was somewhat predictable.  He did what I figured he would from the beginning although his "accomplice" at the end was unexpected.  I also liked the other members of Moonlight Square and their insights into Maggie and her sister, as well as their support of Connor.

I am enjoying this series more and more.

The women are independent and the men can handle them and work with them instead of trying to put them into a stereotypical role.

This is book 2 of the Harmony Falls series. Zander is hired to provide helicopter flying lessons to America's sweetheart, Kate Watson. Kate is looking to move from making romantic comedies to making action/adventure movies. She has a bet with her co-star about doing her own flying stunts in her current movie. Zander is unlike anyone else she has ever met. He is not awe-struck by her. He treats her the same as he treats everyone else. Both discover how wrong their preconceived ideas about the other are.

I liked this story. I loved these characters. Both are vulnerable. There outer shells hide their true selves. When they find themselves in danger, they end up opening up to each other as they work to get home. The action/adventure scenes had me on the edge of my seat. I liked how they open up to each other many times through the story. I liked how the character voice jumped between Zander and Kate. I also liked that both had been raised with religion in their homes and that they honored their parents' beliefs and practices and in their own way practiced their religions. It was a natural part of the story, something that is rarely shown in romance (unless it is inspirational romance.) These are people who are similar to me and I could relate to them.

I look forward to returning to Harmony Falls for book 3.

Bea is trying to buy her grandparents' farm but no matter how hard she works she just cannot seem to get the money together. Now a multimillionaire sends his right-hand man up to make them an offer that is hard to refuse. Harry meets Bea as she is working her roadside stand not knowing she is the grandchild standing between the farm and his boss. When she discovers why he is in town, all bets are off on who will win.

I enjoyed this story. It sets the stage for the Harmony Falls series. The world building is good. While the town is fictional, there are a lot of references to the surrounding Western Pennsylvania area that I liked. Harry and Bea are good as they meet first as possible romantic partners then as adversaries for the farm then as allies. I was furious with Harry when he let Bea go into a meeting with his boss alone, knowing what his boss was like. He deserved the uncertainty he felt after that. Bea did not. The secondary characters are fun. I look forward to reading more of their stories and spending time in Harmony Falls.
