The Kraken Wakes - new BBC Radio 4 adaptation
The Kraken Wakes - John Wyndham

As you know, I'm a huge fan of John Wyndham and the BBC have just made a new adaptation of his novel The Kraken Wakes. The time period has been updated, but it still has that fabulous 1950s B-movie feel to it.

It was adapted by Val McDermid the crime writer, who apparently has always been a fan of Wyndham, and she's done a bloody good job. Atmospheric, suspenseful, and scary; just like the novel. Absolutely fantastic, and well worth a listen.

Serial Thursdays
The Kraken King, Part I: The Kraken King and the Scribbling Spinster (Iron Seas, #4.1) - Meljean Brook

The concept of a book being released as a serial is one that I am rather fond of due to sentimental reasons. Dumas released most of his works in serial form. It was the only way many people could afford to read novels at that time, so it meant that using this form of publishing, made his work accessible to a bigger audience. I
So I simply love the idea of it.
Finding out that one of my favorite authors has opted to release her newest book as a serial meant that  I will definitely jump on the opportunity to indulge in a old tradition, no questions asked.
So the journey through The Kraken King by Meljean Brook commenced. If you follow me on Goodreads you might have seen my ups and downs that were the result of this pursuit, and four serials in, I am halfway through the novel to be exact, I suddenly thought- I should share this experiment on our blog. So I thought I should resurrect Serial Wednesdays, but frankly due to my current work schedule it would be a feat of impossibility to read and review the serial by Wednesday hence Serial Thursdays was born.

Soooo join the fun?!
