Day 27 - The most surprising plot twist or ending

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. He is a master at twists, but I don’t think it was ever more evident than here. This book is chocked full of unexpected turns, and I don’t want to give any of it away, because that’s the what makes the whole experience extra fun. Out of everything I’ve read by him, this was the book that kept me wide-eyed every time some new thing was brought to light.

Day 06 - A book that makes you sad

Chuck Palahniuk’s work tends to be bleak with its dark humor and slivers of hope that make all that darkness bearable. Diary didn’t even have a sliver. The life of the main character was a carefully orchestrated disaster from beginning to end. Nothing about it struck me as funny, even in a dark way, and there was never a moment where hope was evident. I didn’t enjoy this as much as I’d hoped because I found it so depressing. I think that constitutes sad, all right.
