good story and characters
Exes - A Second Chance Billionaire Romance Novel - Aria Hawthorne

Harvey Zale is a billionaire determined to get on with his life after his divorce from Alma. he is texting/sexting Contessa and is getting into this new online relationship even though he hasn’t met Contessa.  Alma is Harvey's ex and she is determined to move on and has her own person she is texting.sexting. Here she can be more daring. Alma had left Harvey a year ago as she felt his whole focus was on money  and she felt ignored and they had grown apart and she wanted nothing to do with Harvey now. Harvey was stunned when Alma divorces him and he lets Alma know he wants her back  Neither knew they were actually texting each other. Harvey and Alma’s paths cross again for work. Harvey is a real estate tycoon and Alma is an antique  expert specializes in antique glass. Alma gets a call from a friend that someone was going to destroy a waterfront property that is rumored to have a Tiffany stained glass window which would be priceless. Alma stops the property from being bulldozed down and she finds out the property is Harvey’s . Alma and Harvey fight over this new real estate flipping as she feel she needs to examine the window to see if it is in fact the glass it is believed to be. Alma finds she still loves Harvey.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I really liked how harvey reacted to Alma. I loved the plot. But this did drag for me at times. I chuckled at times while reading this. I loved the relationship between Harvey and Alma both online and off. I loved the relationship between Alma and her younger sister Conchita. I also really liked the relationship between Enrique and Harvey even after the divorce. I will say I sometimes got frustrated with Harvey or Alma or both. I really liked harvey and Alma together. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend

Angsty
Unfair Game: A Gay Sports Romance Novel - Cecelia Storm

Unfair Game is a a friends to lovers, sports romance. We do get some actual game play, although it's more quick overview than anything else. Kyle and Cade are teammates during most of the story. The premise and writing are good, but the story has a little more angst than I felt necessary. With the story being told from Kyle's perspective, it's hard to really know Cade. I felt like he was more self-absorbed than anything else for most of the book while Kyle's fears are prevalent throughout the story and he comes across as quite indecisive. The romance felt like a one step forward, two steps back kind of thing. The heat and attraction between them came across very well, but I had trouble with the actual love thing. Cade seems more curious than invested in a relationship and of course, Kyle's angst is off the charts. Things do finally start to come together, but by that time, I was rather fed up with Kyle's push and pull and Cade's 'everything will be okay' attitude. Kyle's fears were understandable and I could even empathize with him, but as they went on and on, that empathy began to wear thin. There was some amusing and witty dialogue between this pair and I even found myself chuckling at some of their banter, but for me, a huge portion of the story could've been left out and I would've enjoyed it much more. Just too angsty for my tastes. If you enjoy an angst-filled romance with a bit of humor and plenty of heat, this one is certainly that.

Slow pace
The Guardian: A Standalone Romance Novel... The Guardian: A Standalone Romance Novel - Pamela Ann

The story started out with a good pace and what I thought would be an interesting and fun storyline, then it went off the rails. There is cheating in this tale and I know that some find it offensive. While I don't agree with cheating - ever - I can read about it and it has nothing to do with my rating on this one. What did affect my rating was the agonizingly slow pace and the constant back and forth and miscommunication between Jared and Gisele. It became tedious and after awhile it was no surprise when they were on the outs once again. The book is quite long and eventually, I just didn't care if this couple worked it out or not. There were also several extraneous circumstances - I say extraneous because they were just dropped without resolution or explanation. I did finish the book, mainly because I can't start a book and not finish, but this one was way too easy to set aside and finishing began to feel like a chore about halfway through.

Review: Down Home Cowboy (Copper Ridge #8) by Maisey Yates
Down Home Cowboy: A Western Romance Novel (Copper Ridge) - Maisey Yates

This Texas cowboy has come home to Copper Ridge to put down roots…but will he risk his heart again?

Asked where he'd be at this point in life, Cain Donnelly would have said anywhere but Copper Ridge, Oregon, living with his estranged brothers. But since his wife abandoned them, both he and his daughter, Violet, are in need of a fresh start, so he's back to claim his share of the family ranch. Local baker Alison Davis is a delicious temptation, but she's also his daughter's mentor and new boss. That makes her off-limits…until she offers a no-strings deal that no red-blooded cowboy could resist.

Alison has worked tirelessly to rebuild her life, and she won't jeopardize her hard-won independence. Especially if it also complicates Cain's relationship with Violet. But with Cain offering a love she never thought was possible, Alison has to find the courage to let her past go…or watch her future ride away for good.

3 ½ ★

This is the 8th book in the Copper Ridge series but it can be easily read as a standalone. I have not read any of the previous books and did not feel like I missed something. Which is always good. Most know, that I enjoy Cowboy books among Rockstar and Hockey books , when it comes to romance books, so it was really way to like this book. This was the first book I read by Maisey Yates but I plan on reading more of her books. I liked the writing style it had a nice flow to it and was easy to follow and get lost in. I did enjoy the story and the characters for the most part, some parts were a bit annoying but nothing major that made me want to stop reading. I l liked the back story of the characters and it made us really see why they are the way they are. While most of the story was easy to predict it still was very enjoyable to read. I enjoyed all the side characters as well even if I did not know that from the precious books. I thought they had just the right amount of page-time not too much or little. Overall. Great read and looking forward to read more by this author.

I rate it 3 ½ ★

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Maisey Yates lives in rural Oregon with her three children and her husband, whose chiseled jaw and arresting features continue to make her swoon. She feels the epic trek she takes several times a day from her office to her coffee maker is a true example of her pioneer spirit. In 2009, at the age of twenty-three Maisey sold her first book.

Since then it’s been a whirlwind of sexy alpha males and happily ever afters, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Maisey divides her writing time between dark, passionate category romances set just about everywhere on earth and light sexy contemporary romances set practically in her back yard.

She believes that she clearly has the best job in the world.

Hurts so good
Call to Engage: A Romance Novel (Seal Brotherhood Novel) - Tawny Weber

This is the 2nd book in the Team Poseidon series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment and understanding of the series & characters, I recommend reading this fast paced series in order.

Elijah has a lot going on at work and in his personal life.  He comes home to rest, and runs smack into his ex.  He may be ready to make major changes in his life.  If only he could decide between the professional and the personal that haunt him.

Ava is completely turned upside down to see her ex-husband.  Too many memories just bombard her at the sight of him.  Can she forgive and forget?  It is obvious they still feel something for one another.... and hopefully they won't set anything but themselves on fire with all this heat.

Such an incredible series!  This book shows that not only is this series getting hotter, but the author just kicks it up a notch with each story.  I felt for the characters in this book.  I could tell they needed one another.  And...the sparks.... well let's just say you may want to read this on with the fan facing you.  Something for everyone in this story.  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
