Shadows Strike
Shadows Strike (Immortal Guardians) - Dianne Duvall

This is Ethan and Heather's story. Heather is a telepath and has been able to turn that into a career- as a FACS specialist (reading facial expressions and body language to determine if someone is lying. The other couples from previous books all make appearances. The underlying storyline with Gershon trying to start WW 3 is continued. New allies appear.

Jared (an other) and General Lane) Aidan (an older immortal- he can bear some sunlight) is the one who transformed Heather, so she is stronger than Ethan.

(spoiler show)

I read this for Romance-opoly Fang Alley moon track

Shadows Strike By Dianne Duvall
Shadows Strike (Immortal Guardians) - Dianne Duvall

U.S. law enforcement agent Heather Lane can read minds. But not the future. The dream of battle and blood that recurs every night must be a fluke, some obscure terror from her own mind. What its significance might be, she can't guess: an attack from seven psychotic vampires at once, only separated from nightmare by an eighth very different immortal. A handsome, brave man fighting at her side, a man she misses when she wakes.

Then the dream comes true. Heather is flung into a war between predators and protectors of humanity, the man from her dreams beside her again. Except now that she's awake, she isn't sure she can trust Ethan, or the shadow organization he represents. The U.S. military doesn't trust either of them. But against an onslaught of evil like the one that's coming, it will take everything they have just to survive...

Shadows Strike (Immortal Guardians) - Dianne Duvall

The action in this one started from page one and didn't stop until the very end.  It was fast paced, entertaining, and the two main characters were awesome together.  Heather Lane has been dreaming of vampires and one warrior for the past year.  The dream is always the same; she is in a field by her home and at 5;49 a.m. she hears a noise and stands up.  As she watches the woods vampires emerge with one dark dressed warrior in the middle battling them.  He yells at her to shoot them and as she does she wakes up.  Since the dreams began, she has gone to that field at that time to see what would happen, never actually believing that vampires were going to come fighting into her back yard.  One night it all comes to pass and she meets Ethan.  From the get-go their chemistry and banter are awesome.  It is so obvious they are the perfect fit for each other. A few weeks later he comes back to her because he can't stop thinking about her, and when he does a ton of vampires attack.  They fight together and she saves his life.  From that moment on, there is no going back for her.  She wants to be with Ethan and Ethan will fight to the death to protect her from their enemies.

I absolutely loved this one!  I can't praise the two characters and their chemistry enough.  And the epic battles in the end are monumental and exciting.  Things are really ramping up in the world of the Immortal Guardians. The enemy Other is identified and a new ally steps forward.   I can't wait for the next installment!!

Shadows Strike (Immortal Guardians)
Shadows Strike (Immortal Guardians) - Dianne Duvall It should come to no surprise that I adored this book. Dianne Duvall can do no wrong in my eyes.. or eyes since I listened to the audiobook. I will not lie, I was worried about this one just because of the whole him being in love with Lisette thing.. That usually drives me crazy. I want my male lead to be totally focused on the female lead in my books but he totally was. Once he met Heather he was all "Lisette who?"

oohhh and then there was the double date scene and I was like Dianne girl what are you doing but it actually turned out okay. Heather is a cool girl. I gotta say I would have a hard time with the guy I love being friends with someone he slept with for a century. Especially since Ethan thought he loved her. But really it was obvious that Ethan only wanted Heather. If there was even one minute of doubt from him I would have hated him. I know that is unfair because he thought he loved Lisette for 100 years and that isn't something you just give up. I get that. But I am a jealous little reader. He realized that he did love Lisette but only as a friend and I was very okay with that.

And yay so was Heather! She was pretty awesome always running in and saving Ethan. Psh, almost dying and what not. I liked her a lot. And I am so excited that Aidan is next!!! I love him. I think he is a fun character and omg Jared!!! ahhh.
