Arc Review: Bama Girl Blues (Hot Wired #3) by Gracen Miller
Bama Girl Blues (Hot Wired #3 - Rocker Romance) - Gracen Miller,Brannon Jones,Kristina Haecker

What a crazy pair! I loved Keith and Vanessa right from the start. She's a woman that knows what she wants, when she wants it and is not afraid to ask for it when necessary. Even though she's known some band members since childhood she's kept a low profile and would rather not have anything to do with the spotlight. Keys was quite a charmer that because of his family's business has always been in public's eye, even before he became a rock star. To him fame and fortune came with the territory.

At the start of their fling, Vanessa had lots of plans for her future and the last thing she wanted was to start a relationship with her longtime friend Keys. She knew that would impede her from fulfilling her career goals but at the same time she could not keep denying the pull she felt towards him. When she decided to make her move (because it was she who made the first move and I loved her for that) she made Keys a proposition that was impossible for him to resist.

The chemistry between the two was off the charts. They had this easy bantering that made their relationship pretty relatable and what I loved the most of it was that there was such an openness to one another that not only did I find cute but also incredibly sexy.

The rock band members were a riot and a half and their dynamics made them sound more like a family than simply band mates. I had forgotten how much I truly liked this bunch.

In short it was a great romance story and if anything the only thing I didn't like much was the fact that we keep hearing over and over again about Nessa's Southern roots and her not too-skinny body. I get that both situations set the base for the whole conundrum but I didn't think it was necessary to be reminded of it every five minutes. But that's just my picky self being picky.

3.5 stars rounded to 4.

First book in a new series by the author but just as great as any of her other series.

Widowed Gabrielle has no other choice but to resort to thievery to pay off her late husband’s gambling debts or she will have to face a fate much worse than jail. It’s not what she would have wanted to do with her life but at the time there was not much choice left for her. Lord Ramsey never thought Gabrielle would become the remarkable thief she seems to be, but then again they hadn’t talked to each other since before she got married to no other than to one of his good old friends, and way before he got involved in serious troubles of his own.

The love story was fabulous! I was drawn to the couple from page one. The relationship they built felt real and feasible and although there was a clear physical attraction they didn’t jump into each other’s bed at the first chance they got. Gabrielle was smart and cautious and even when she started developing feelings for our hero she didn’t let her emotions rule over her instincts and that to me it’s the best kind of heroine there could possibly exist. Ramsey was charmer with a guilty conscience so although he had a mission of his own and tried to convince himself he only had to care for himself, he always tried to protect Gabrielle as much as he could. He truly was the best kind of rogue.

We know it’s a romance story and that you know, HEA, but the way the city of Paris during the Reign of Terror was described- it seriously gave me goosebumps. The gory details and that feeling of fear that felt so palpable and real, and the fact that the author didn’t shrink away from any of it for the sake of romance made this book an even more rewarding and enjoyable read. It was a great read indeed and I definitely will continue reading the series.

After her late husband leaves her in debt to some dangerous people, Lady Gabrielle McCullough is forced to become a thief. In the intervening years, her skills have not gone unnoticed. After being recruited by the Scarlet Pimpernel, the mysterious do-gooder spiriting aristocrats out of revolutionary France, Gabrielle crosses the Channel for the most daring mission of her life. Accompanying her is the Earl of Sedgwick, a thief in his own right and an enticingly masculine presence. The man is not to be trusted—nor is Gabrielle's body when he's near.

Ramsey Barnes would not say he is an honorable man. His whole life has been based on a lie; why change now? Although it pains him to deceive the tantalizing Gabrielle, he's working toward an altogether different objective: unmasking the Scarlet Pimpernel. If Ramsey fails, his blackmailer will ruin him. But when Ramsey's confronted with the carnage of the Reign of Terror, he seeks refuge in Gabrielle's heated embrace. Now he faces a terrible choice: betray the woman who's stolen his heart—or risk losing everything.

Summer Heat is a collection of short and steamy romances, absolutely perfect for the beach or when you are stuck in an airport! Just make sure you have some water with you as you might need to cool down. Every story is different, ranging from contemporary, to paranormal, to rock stars and the military. In my opinion, there is literally something here for everyone.

All of the stories flow, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. There is simply no story that I felt was a 'filler', and far too many to choose just one favourite! Absolutely recommended by me - for that perfect summer read; or if you want to remember those hot, halcyon days, when it is cold outside.

Arc Review: Resurrection (Redemption Harbor Series #1) by Katie Reus
Resurrection (Redemption Harbor Series Book 1) (Volume 1) - Katie Reus
Action-packed, romance-filled, and riveting to say the least; this story will grab you from page one!

CIA agent Skye fakes her own death to protect her partner and lover Colt Stuart and all those he holds dear. She’s never stopped loving him and knows she hurt him deep but she’s also sure what she did was for the best. When a dear friend of Colt is kidnapped she sees her rescuing as an opportunity to somewhat make it up to him, and although he might never know it was she who rescue his friend, she still goes for it. What she didn’t account for was that Colt would find out she didn’t die and once he did he wouldn’t let her go ever again. Not only that but he would go to extremes to protect her and never have to lose her again.

OMG! This story! To me it had one of the best opening convos ever! It was funny while setting the pace for what was coming. Sky was one of the most assertive, self-confident, witty, and cool heroines I’ve ever read. Kudos to the author for giving me such an awesome character. Colt is your typical self-assured and overprotective alpha CIA agent that will do anything to protect those he loves (and I mean AN-NY-THING), however what’s great about his relationship with Skye is that he sure as hell knows Skye’s boundaries and as the gracious and romantic lover he is, he also knows how to make her feel safe and cared for.

The dynamics between the friends was heartwarming and was pulling my heart strings at every corner. As a reader I could feel how much they really cared for each other. Once the “mission” is officially over we are immediately introduced to the next one and luckily we don’t have to wait too long as the second installment will be out within the next few months. This story was the perfect introduction to the series and if it’s any indication of what the whole series will be then we sure are in for a heck of a ride.

I received this book from the author at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.

Review: Warrior of Fire (Blood & Silver #2) by Shona Husk 4 out of 5 stars
Warrior of Fire - Shona Husk

This is the second installment in the Blood and Silver series. I honestly feel that this story cannot be read as a stand alone to be fully enjoyed as there are many aspects that would be missed if the first story is not read, well, first.

Leira and Julian are both part of an ancient yet almost extinct magical race called Albah. Because of prejudice and misconceptions about magic, their race has been hunted for as long as they can remember and now Julian is a target of those that want to end the Albah.

Fate plays an important role here but it’s not the focal point. The author manages to dance around it by making the characters think there is an already established path for everyone but also plays with the outcome by giving them infinite options depending on the choices people make.
In the case of Leira, and because of her magic, she knew she and Julian were supposed to meet but as the story progressed she wasn’t so sure anymore if that meant if they were supposed to be lovers or if he was just supposed to be in her life as something else. Julian knew there had to be more than magic and fate involved in their relationship because of the chemistry between them, and it was not just physical attraction but something deeper. And I definitely thanked the author for that because she didn’t go for the insta-lust here.
In the end, in spite of magic, fate, and crazy people going after them, they decided that risking it all for an uncertain but happy future was worth the risk.

The pace was a little slow for my taste but I’m willing to overlook it because I really liked this fantasy world, the complex characters and I thought this was a well-developed story.
