Traits of Logo Designing

When designing a logo, how can you be sure that the identity that you're working on will be a success in the real world? There are many things that you need to consider while creating your company's logo. A logo derives its meaning from the quality of the things it symbolizes. A logo helps your business with brand identity. If people remember your logo then they will surely remember your company if they have seen it somewhere else before. That is why many people love Nike and Apple logos. The businesses they represent are deemed as successful, it's easy for anyone, even for designers, to feel that logo be successful too. It's near impossible not to see those associations. Today we will provide you the real traits of logo designing which will help you find and create the best logo for you.

  • What's the role of a Logo?

The primary goal of a logo is to identify. So if a logo is used consistently by the company on various platforms then people will immediately be able to identify the brand with one look at the logo. Earlier the logo used to be very different but now we need to look at the eight characteristics for successful logo design. Let us discuss those traits for the best logo for your business.

    Simplicity
    Relevancy
    Memorability
    Differentiation
    Scalability
    Versatility

Simplicity

if you have a look at the logos of the most successful firms and companies of the world, you will see that they all have logos that are simple. And if you look through the time, the logos have become more simplified and refined over time. If your logo is not simple then a busy logo makes the identification more difficult. A simple logo contains only what is needed and only contains the idea which will help you with the most recognized logo.

Differentiation

Differentiation help in identifying one brand from another. For instance, when you go shopping, you have hundreds or even thousands of different products for your attention. While we're talking about differentiation, it's important to remember that the logo is one small piece of the overall brand identity, so it needs to be sufficiently unique when compared with the competitor.

Relevancy

Well, it is important for your logo to be different, but you don't want to take things too far for the point that you're different. You need to make sure the logo you create sits comfortably in the field or niche it operates in.

Memorability

Memorability means you need to aim to design a logo that people will remember. If the logo is distinct & sharp then it will automatically create a space in people's minds.

Scalability

Another important characteristic of a successful logo is scalability, when you’re designing your logo, make sure to zoom in and out, to ensure your logo is legible at smaller sizes. It’s also good practice to test your logo on mockups, to ensure it works effectively in real-life small applications too and is still legible and recognizable from a distance.

Versatility

A successful logo design will work effectively in a wide range of situations. Doing this ensures the logo to be immediately recognizable, and to look it's best no matter what sie of the area it is placed in, or the color or material its placed on.

These are the few traits that need to be taken care of while creating a logo for your business. This will help you stand out from the rest of the others and help you with creating your brand awareness so you can grow in your business.

Ms. Pierson's thoughts on Charlotte's Web!
Charlotte's Web - E.B. White,Garth Williams,Rosemary Wells

A favorite of all favorites!! This is one of those books that everyone needs to read at some point in their school years! It is a sweet story about a little girl who lives on a farm. They have piglets and she is determined to save this little big from being slaughtered. She babies this pig as much as she can. She goes to visit the barn and sit with the pig every day. As the pig gets older he makes friends with this spider in the barn. The spider makes webs with words that describe the pig. The farmers decide to take this amazing pig to the fair and put him in a contest. I think this book would be great to do character traits and character webs. There is so much personality in each character.

Mrs. Thomas' Booklike pick
A Bad Case of Stripes - David Shannon

Camilla loves lima beans, but won't eat them because kids will make fun of her. she comes down with a bad case of the stripes and all of the kids make fun of her. She keeps changing colors and no one can help her until and old woman comes and feeds her lima beans to cure her stripes.

Lexile Measure: 610

I would use this with an activity from Teachers pay Teachers where the students will color Camilla's stripes in a color by number worksheet activity. I would also use it as a character lesson on being yourself.

The Hundred Dresses
The Hundred Dresses - Eleanor Estes,Louis Slobodkin

The main character, Wanda Petronski, is ridiculed by her classmates for wearing the same dress everyday. Wanda claims she has one hundred dresses at home, but no one believes her. Ultimately, Wanda is pulled out of class and the students feel terrible. Students will love this heartfelt story and it will open discussion about bullying.

This book is targeted at more mature readers leveled at ages 6-9. A great way to use this book in your classroom is to let students describe characters from the story using character traits. Your students can also use compare and contrast with two different characters from the story.

Corduroy
Corduroy - Don Freeman

This is a cute little story about a bear that wants to find a home. He realizes one day that he is missing a button and is on the search to find it. A little girl that has been wanting Corduroy saved up all of her money and the next day she came and bought him. She took Corduroy home and gave him a brand new button and a new home. For my classroom, I would like to have my students create a character web of words that describe Corduroy.
