I'm Undead and Hungry!: Meet a Zombie - Shannon Knudsen,Chiara Buccheri

This book is all about Zombies!! What they are, what they do, where to find them. Despite the subject matter, it is not a scary book, though it is perfect for Halloween. Not to worry, Roscoe the Zombie is friendly and he delivers information about zombies in a light and whimsical way. He explains how zombies are portrayed in different cultures and how to avoid getting eaten by one. My favorite part of this book is the writing activity that is suggested at the end. It also has websites that teachers can visit in order to enhance learning if this book were incorporated in their lesson. The Monster Buddies series really keeps teachers in mind.

Undead Ultra (A Zombie Novel)
Undead Ultra (A Zombie Novel) - Camille ... Undead Ultra (A Zombie Novel) - Camille Picott Kate and her best friend Frederico are ultrarunners. What are ultrarunners you might ask? Well I did. I had never heard of an “ultrarunners” before. Well in case you don’t know an ultrarunner is someone who runs 26.2 miles or more. Kate and Frederico have been running for years and have participated in a quiet a few Ultramarathons.

On the day that the zombie virus hits town Kate and Frederico leave. Kate gets a call from her son Carter who is away at college. Carter is trapped by the zombies and sees no way out at the moment. When Kate hears that her baby needs her she takes off to help him. Hey her baby is trouble and so mama bear is on the way.

So Kate and Frederico decide that the best way of transportation would be to go on foot since they are ultrarunners and have trained for this day for many years at least since Carter was a baby or maybe before. They decide the best route is to take the train tracks. Fewer zombies and more secluded.

Kate and Frederico figure that it is about two hundred miles to where Carter is going to school. Two hundred miles to an ultrarunner isn’t that big a deal. They are used to putting in about one hundred miles or more a week. It shouldn’t take them but a few days at the most. They just need to keep hydrated and refuel often, piece of cake right; wrong, not if you run into the undead and the living as well along the way.

Kate and Frederico are very resourceful and run into a little trouble on the journey with the undead and the living. There are times I wasn’t sure if they were going to make it out alive but they would prevail some way or another. I loved some of their ways of taking “care” of the undead. Sometimes I would cry and sometimes I would need a tissue or two. But I am so very glad that I decided to read Undead Ultra. I learned a lot about running and about life itself as well.

I love reading zombie books and Undead Ultra ranks right up there on the very top of my number one list of zombie books. Undead Ultra has stayed with me long after I finished it. I even remembered Kate and Frederico’s names. Honestly which I really hate to admit I do have a problem remembering characters names and have to look back through the book to find them when writing my reviews. Sorry guys. I am going to have to give the author Camille Picott kudos for Undead Ultra is one of the best books I think I have ever read. It is very well written and the characters are well developed. Undead Ultra is on my top ten books of 2016. I am anxiously waiting the next book in the series or at least I hope there is a next book.

Books started this month but haven't finished yet: Scintillate (one day I'm gonna finish it), All the Light We Cannot See

Eight books!!! I'm happy with that. I pretty much loved all the books I have read. Not all of them have been my favorites but I enjoyed them all. So it's been a good month. I have a tablet now and read most of my ebooks there and it's just so much easier than reading on my phone or my laptop.

Zia, The Teenage Zombie & The Undead Diaries!!!
Zia, The Teenage Zombie & The Undead Diaries - Angela Scott

First things first: I got this book for review over at yaboundbooktours.

The book is out since September 20th and you should totally check it out, if you like books about Zombies or if you want to start readng books about the undead.

I'm having a hard time rating this book to be completely honest. Cause I loved it but I just. The ending?! I didn't really feel it.

Overall I loved LOVED LOVED the idea of the book. This is a world were it's normal to have Zombies, Werwolves and Vampires in the city. They have bands, so the normal population is safe from them. But they go to work, they go to school. They live normally. Not everyone accepts them but they just have to deal with it.

Characterwise, we have Zia as the maincharacter. We read everything from her point of view. I'm not sure about her, I liked her but at the same time she did lots of things that really frustrated me. Especially when it comes to the boys in her life. There were a lot of bad things that happened to her because of two of the dudes (Eli and Rory) and yes, I get that they helped her later and all that and that she did some not so good things either but oh well. I'm just not the forgive and forget type of person. I hold grudges.

I loved the family aspect of the book. I loved Zia's relationship with her dad and her stepmother (I just love how she treated her like a fairly normal person and tried to help her out the best she could). And I'm glad that the relationship between Zia and her stepsister got a bit better towards the end.

I love where Zia ended up. She still can see her family, even though she can't live with them anymore. But I feel like the island is so much better for her and she can live more freely and has started to accept herself for who she is now and that she can start to see the beauty in herself. I don't like who she ended up with but oh well.

I still enjoyed the book a lot. It's just that little part that I didn't like and that I had a few problems with Zia's decisions from time to time. But the writing was really great and the humor was wonderful, I actually laughed out loud a few times.

Reading progress update: I've read 36%.
Zia, The Teenage Zombie & The Undead Diaries - Angela Scott

Uh oh. The new undead are bringing trouble to the town. It's making me kinda nervous.
But I still really enjoy reading this. (I'm just in a bit of a reading slump.)
