Tannis Laidlaw - author of histories, mysteries and other fiction.Like most of us, I started composing stories when very young but didn't put pen to paper until I was in my twenties. I thought I had been writing the beginnings of stories in my head then discovered I was actually composing poems. Poetry was my first love, lots written, a few published. Novels came much later with a huge gap in between filled with university studies then research in various medical schools plus bringing up a family. My first novel was finished almost ten years ago and it is still safely tucked away on my hard drive. Several more were written before finding my agent a few years ago. When the Amazon phenomenon changed everything, I made my two current projects immediately available. FULL STOP - eat until you're full and stop gaining weight - a non-fiction 'popular science' book about what foods are scientifically shown to be healthy and which are not (hint - carbs are unnecessary unless found in green or yellow vegetables), all documented in easy-to-understand language. That's the medical school researcher coming to the fore. The second book placed on Amazon was written at the same time and is a psychological thriller called Bye Baby Bunting. It's about adopting out a baby and stealing her back again - a complex tale that will grip your imagination.I was born in Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada and lived there until I was 22 (except for a couple of years of college in the USA) when I set off to see the world. The first stop was New Zealand and I fell in love with this beautiful country. I travel back to Canada and the family cottage on a remote lake every year, maintaining my ties there. In fact, my husband and I do a great deal of travelling, one of our abiding interests. Luckily he loves wilderness living too. We also go to Europe each year - we live an interesting life, bits and pieces of which beg to be put into books.Like so many authors, my writing reflects my life. The next book to come out will be Half Truths and Whole Lies, another psychological adventure set within a university research environment in England. Oh, did I say I've also lived and worked in the UK? After that most likely will be a murder mystery based in New Zealand, now in its final editing phases. Then there's the book about a woman found badly beaten at the side of a frosty rural lane in England who must find out who she is and why she was left for dead. And several more....
